"I have overcome difficulties and reached a stage of satisfaction, if not
total fulfillment. `But is this all there is?' I sometimes wonder. Is the
ability to sit here smug and self-satisfied what I've worked so hard to
get? I certainly thought it was while I was struggling.
"Some people tell me that I'm afraid to turn around and actually see
what's in my cups; that I use my feelings of success to avoid delving any
deeper into my personal and emotional development. Maybe that's so.
"Then again, I could be turning away from the material world so that I can
begin to seek spiritual enlightenment and wisdom. I'm not totally prepared
to do that, though. I think I'll just sit here a little longer and see
what comes along.
