| To continue on with my story about my 1985 Camaro, I had just purchased the car, and in the first week I owned the car I put on nearly 1,000 miles. Then the next week tradjedy struck. I got into an accident, and nearly totaled the car. The I bent the frame in the front, and the autobody shop wanted $1200 to get a new front end and in the end it was going to cost roughly $2500 for the car to be fixed. At this point i figured that the car was totaled for sure. My dad said that we could probably straighten the frame ourselves, and reinforce it with a steel bracket. The project begins here. That winter we began the body work on the car. we pulled the dents out, as much as we could, then apllied several layers of bondo to fix as much as we could. That spring we straighted the frame, and bought 2 new aftermarket fenders for the car. We then sanded the car down, and had a cheap paint job done to it. Now, when I mean cheap I mean the quality was not that good, but for the money I couldn't complain I guess. I drove the car for 2 summers since then. It has been stored in the winters, and that is where I am at right now. For more on specific areas click the links. |
