You wander around the densely wooded area and come upon a clearing. Evoviel beaming from ear to ear. She is kneeling on the ground, and an unusual creature is standing beside her. Evoviel calmly scratches the creature behind the ears as she looks at you. The creature's greenish eyes follow hers.
"Look, look! I was chosen! I get to take care of a Lurif! I'm so excited... Let me introduce you! This is Vedriil. Isn't he just wonderful? Now that I have him here, I need to make sure he says safe and happy. I've got the area secured so that no predators can get in here, I've checked the stream over the the east, and everything looks good there. The water is clear and cold, not moving too fast or too slow. I even made sure that the den is safe and everything!" She motions over to what looks like the entrance to a cave. "I want everything to be perfect. This is such a great opportunity!" She smiles nervously at you, as if asking if you agree, then rubs Vedriil between the eyes tenderly. "Do you know what Lurifs are? They're lupine-like creatures from
Dominion. They're quite unique. A scientist named Geneva made them
through magic and genetic engineering centuries ago, but recently their
numbers are extremely low. The Council doesn't want to do anything to
help their numbers grow, in fact, they were going to just let them die
off!" Evoviel seems to be very upset as she says this. But then
she seems to relax. "But thankfully, Noquis, another scientist,
began to cultivate Lurif pups using genetic samples from the nine
remaining Lurifs. This is my purpose in life - helping to preserve and
increase the numbers of creatures that are on the verge of
extinction." She beams again. "There are only a few
pups. I'm so honored to be able to take part in this project. I know
Evolution Laboratories has the resources to meet any needs that the
Lurifs may require to help advance the population. This is such an
important time for this species! Vedriil isn't able to breed, but it's
just as important to give him a wonderful home. Perhaps at some time in
the future, we might be chosen to take care of more Lurifs... maybe even
some that can breed! But right now, what's important is making sure this
guy is happy here. Evoviel hugs the Lurif lightly and it licks her
face. She smiles broadly.
