Former
International Star of the hit musical EVITA, Michele Breeze returns to theatre after touring
the world with her dynamic and very successful Dynamite Show. The
Stage and Television Today wrote of her performance:
" She is a Queen among
Artistes, a powerhouse of a performer."
In
Boudicca, Michele gives a one woman performance based upon the story of
the Celtic Queen Boudicca, or Boadicea as she is more commonly known. After the
death of her husband Prasutagus, King of the Iceni Tribe, Boudicca was
humiliated by Rome on the orders of Nero. She was flogged and forced to watch
her two daughters raped by Roman soldiers. All the Iceni lands were confiscated
and Boudicca organised a revolt amongst the tribes which led to her being the
first woman to beat a Roman army. As there is only a one-sided account of what
happened written by the Roman scribe Titus, the reference for this story is
taken from Welsh historical accounts which refer to her final battle being
fought on Rhuddlan Plain in North Wales and that she and her daughters were
killed in battle as opposed to the Roman version which loosely stated she took
her own life by poison.
