THINSPIRATIONS from HealthDicovery
Rather than lamenting what you do not have, make the most of what you do have. Rather than being stopped by what you cannot do, move forward by doing what you can do. Instead of agonizing over the past or worrying about the future, make sure that right now you are the very best you can be. Put your attention and your effort where they count. Use your energy and your time where they can make the biggest positive difference. Being positive is more than just repeating happy phrases. Being positive means living positive. Being positive means seeing the possibilities for improvement and advancement in every situation, and acting on them. Being positive means doing what is necessary and right even if it is not easy or popular.
Positive values are more than just platitudes. Sincere positive values result in effective positive actions. And those actions will bring real, lasting and substantial achievement. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Road to Skinnyville~~posted by Lizard~ Look at it this way. We call our weight loss a journey, let's take this metaphor and run with it. So, for as long as you can remember you've wanted to go to this amazing place that everyone has been to (or, at least it seems like everyone). Let's call this place Skinnyville...
So, you want to go to Skinnyville, but it's about 60 miles away. So you hop in your car and start driving. But around 40 miles into the trip you really are getting tired, you're running out of gas, and your right butt cheek is asleep. What should you do? You just passed a sign that says 20 miles to Skinnyville. You have DREAMED about seeing this beautiful land for quite some time now. You're close to the gas station, once you get some gas you can always turn around and go home, back to Unhappy Acres. Or you get out and shake that butt awake , fill your car with some new gas (a little high octane), and get on the road.
You're more than half way there, you may as well see if it's everything that you hoped it would be! Besides, you know that there's nothing in Unhappy Acres that you want to return to. Once you get on the highway you'll see that there's a lot of traffic, this Skinnyville must be really something! Another thing that you'll notice is that the more traffic there is the easier it is to navigate the ROAD TO SKINNYVILLE. The most important thing you'll realize is that the most determined cars all have BCB license plates , and if you just follow them you'll be there in no time... those BCBer's know all the best roads to take.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "Just Do It" One day, I was on line, before I knew anything about Bootcamp (this was before there was a Bootcamp), before I knew about 3FC or had even looked at the WW site. On AOL, I happen to stumble upon a weight loss message board, and wrote how hard it is to do this, how I want to but just don't seem to have the willpower....whine, whine.... Someone answered me with~what I can only now call a real Bootcamp mentality! She, and I can't for the life of me remember her name or how I even got to her, told me simply "do it". No one can do it for me...just get off my duff..make up my mind that this is the way it is going to be, and THAT'S IT! At first I was hurt..after all, I wanted some sympathy and support, not a kick in the butt. BUT after rereading and thinking it through, she was right. I made up my mind at that time that this was it for me. And I haven't looked back...ever. Then I found the WW board, and through there the 3FC site and the rest is history. The thing is...my attitude has changed. It has changed the way I take care of my family, and myself, it has given me so much more self confidence. It's all in the way you think about it. Attitude. It may not happen for all of you at once. Maybe you need a few kicks in the butt to get it, maybe not. But once you get it, really get it..it's there for life. That's what we are all about. NOT a diet..NOT lose weight for a special occassion...NOT lose for somebody else. You are doing this for YOU. For your HEALTH. For your BODY. FOR YOU. But you need the attitude to go along with it and get you to your goal... So for those of you struggling with weekends, holidays, birthdays and so on..just keep in mind..there will always be weekends, holidays, birthdays and so on. Are you going to go off program for each of these? I think NOT! At least not around here.
