Some of the bands sueing people for sharing their music with others and promoting them for free, yet they feel they must whine about it anyhow. Trust me! Everyone should think about the situation before buying their Cd's, even if they R good bands. Offspring The Beetles some Aerosmith The Doobie Brothers Vanilla Ice The Doors U2 The Kinks Eve 6 The Monkeys TLC The Offspring Sublime Madonna!!! Superdrag System of a Down Suzanne Vega Tenacious D Tha Dog Pound AND MANY, MANY MORE!!! |
| Personal gripe about Madonna: While Madonna is a musical pioneer and has opened many doors in the indusry, might we also say she is a lousy, selfish person who no longer cares about the music (I mean, look at what she has put out lately- blech!)? She even has made a song about how angry she is peopel are downloading her music for free! When did the industry become money-based? I mean, is it our fualt, we the listeners? Or have artists like Madonna gone money happy over their long careers? They htink they can produce shoddy music and fool us! And we let them! I mean, she has teamed up with Brittney Spears, and how on earth could anyone call her work "music?" She belongs in Playboy, not on our TV's. influencing the young females who will someday run the world! Do we want our sisters and daughters confidence and power stemming from perky boobs and slutty dancing, or brains, class, and beauty? We want a woman president, yet the only future Madonna and Brittney offer for little girls is belly dancing at a strip club. Do you think voters woudl ever elect a stripper? And oh, the horror if they did! |
| Granted, yes, copyright laws are in place, and apparently, downloading and sharing music violates these laws. So free downloading and sharing is illegal. But still, there are ways around this. Record companies can protect CD's by making them not play correctly when downloaded to computers. They can surely charge appropriate costs for CD's, not an outrageous $20+! Sure, some stores may occasionally offer a CD for less, but only the new, trendy ones that the mass likes. While being a musician or singer is a person's career- how they earn a living- the best, and most fair way, to capitalize on this is still concerts!!! Getting out there and interacting with the fans. It seems all music artists think they need to do these days is throw on somethign sexy and make an eye-catching video. Who cares what the music is anyhow, right? We must be morons, we fall for it every time. It has been said that inexpensive legal downloading services exist, but I have yet to find a reasonably priced one- a $/song?!!! And these sites mainly take credit cards- how is the 13 yr. old supposed to even access these sites? And how can musicians feel morally good demmanding kids spend all the little money they have on their music? Many of these sites did not exist before the lawsuits, and they certainly were not promoted! How do they expect us to get a fair deal on music? What if we don't want the whole friggin' CD, huh? People downloading music are fans too, and these record companies have decided to screw the very people who keep them alive! Besides, the best musicians remember that the music is about the fans and expression, not the money. I'll let you know if I ever find a fair, legal downloading site. In the mean time, if anyone finds one, please let me know! |
