An endearing slice of life that centers on Professor Tripp, an unraveling English professor, who's forced to confront his writer's block, fear of aging and irresponsibility as he watches James Leer, a student of his, surpass him. This movie, which is a must see, was well acted, directed and written. Michael Douglas and Tobey Maguire have great chemistry together and they really make this film work. In my opinion, I think this movie is Tobey Maguire's best movie, for I prefer him in these low-beat roles. Wonder Boys will most appeal to authors, particularly young ones, but I could see any type of person liking this film. I though James Leer was the most interesting character, but Professor Tripp is a close second.
