This movie tells the life story of country music legend Johnny Cash. Although Walk The Line really begins with his relationship with June Carter, it is also about his transformation from man to icon - from his hardscrabble days on an Arkansas farm to Sun Records in Memphis, Tennessee, where Johnny finally found a way for his talent to come into its own to his famous concert at Folsom Prison. The film is based on Johnny's autobiographies and it explores the Man in Black's addiction to drugs and his journey of redemption. The movie featured solid acting, writing and directing particularly from Joaquin Phoenix and Reese Witherspoon. There are two side notes to this film. The first is that the two actors, who were hand picked by Johnny Cash and June Carter performed all of their own singing. I find this quite interesting considering that it would have been easy to dub in Johnny and June's voices. The second is that John Carter Cash was one of the producers and, strangely, had his cameo cut from the final movie.
