In this black-and-white short, which is based on a poem that Tim Burton composed himself, Vincent tells the story of a little boy who wants to grow up to be just like Vincent Price, the popular horror actor, and Tim Burton's childhood idol. Vincent Price was, it seems, just as much an icon for Tim Burton: House Of Wax, The Fly, Theatre Of Blood - these are all films that made a great impression on Tim Burton as a child. Among other influences within the short are Edgar Allen Poe and Mary Shelley, both of course prolific horror writers that have inspired many movies themselves. From what I hear, Vincent is the first major use of claymation - the animation technique that featured in Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas and Tim Burton's Corpse Bride. It was therefore a breakthrough in animation technique. Vincent Price himself nararates this terrible movie. This film had no redeming qualities whatsoever.
