Lyra Belacqua is content to run wild among scholars in Jordon College, her daemon familiar by her side. But the moment she hears hushed talk of Dust, an extraordinary particle, shes drawn to the heart of a terrible struggle - a struggle born of Gobblers, stolen children, witch clans and armored bears. And as young Lyra hurtles towards danger in the cold, far North, she never suspects the shocking truth: her destiny must be fulfilled not in this world, but far beyond. This book was so boring that I gave up after reading the second chapter. I almost couldnt even read that much. This book is the first in a trilogy, which is entitled His Dark Materials. There are two side notes to this book. The first is that the other two books, which I'm not going to read, are respectfully, The Subtle Knife and The Amber Spyglass. The other is that the entire series was banned because they undermined belief in God and organized religion and promoted atheism.
