In this graphicly erotic coming-of-age film, Matthew is an American college student studying abroad in politically turbulent 1960s Paris. There, he meets and befriends twins Isabelle and Theo, who share his affection for the cinema. The siblings invite their newfound friend to stay with them in their flat, where the trio indulges in decadent sex games and psychological manipulations. In general, I don't like French movies due to their slow pacing, large amount of talking and not enough action, but The Dreamers is an exception. What originally grabbed my interest was the huge controversy the film had over the nudity when it came to the United States. When something is controversial, I get interested in it and want to find out why it's controversial. Well, I thought the movie was beautifully made and the nudity was tastefully done despite the subject matter. However, there were two things that really irritated me about the film. One was the ending, which was rather abrupt. The other was the song Hey Joe, which should had been removed since it didn't fit with the time period.
