Continuing from where the first film left off, this computer-animated television series watches Peter Parker (alias Spider-Man) and his friends Harry Osborne (alias {future} New Goblin) and Mary Jane Watson flounder through their first year at Empire State University. Academic, career and romantic struggles aside, Peter must also fight to protect the world from an unending list of villains. Although I would have liked to see more of the classic villains, such as Venom or Doctor Octopus, the producers had a very limited gallery of villains to work with due to copyright issues. In fact the only classic villain to make it in was the Kingpin. Despite the fact that it's unfortunate that Spider-Man : The New Animated Series was canceled after its first season, the series does end so it loosely ties in to the live action sequels, so it continues in that sense. It's a shame the series wasn't picked up for a second season because by the end of it, it had begun to develop into something interesting. Finally, this series is aimed at the teenagers and young adults much like the movies for it contains mild language, violence and minor sexual content - just pan away-type scenes. If it were rated, I would say it would be in the PG13 range.
