This film, which is based on the series of best-selling, darkly funny children's books, begins after three children's parents are tragically killed. Afterwards, the three young orphans - Violet, Klaus and Sunny - are taken in by the cunning and dastardly Count Olaf, who hopes to snatch their inheritance from them. Jim Carrey is trying to at least pull out of bathroom humor films. This is a dark comedy what has subtle humor, which is quite good and Jim Carrey plays a villian for a change. I believe the last time he played one was in Batman Forever.
