This remake of the 1960s classic didn't need to be remade. Charlton Heston makes a cameo appearance in this film as an ape. After flying through a space "worm hole," an astronaut crashes on a planet where simians rule over humans. Aided and abetted by a sympathetic chimpanzee he leads a small band of rebels against their captors. Unlike many of Tim Burton's movies, this one isn't strange. Neither are Big Fish, Charlie & The Chocolate Factory and Corpse Bride. Until he went made Corpse Bride, Tim Burton lost his edge and now I'm still wondering if he has it. However, Planet Of The Apes is entertaining, I'll give it that much.
