When wide-eyed orphan Oliver Twist has the colossal nerve to ask for more gruel at his workhouse, his cheekiness gets him shipped off to an apprenticeship with a mortician. Soon Oliver bolts for London, where he falls in with a den of thieves led by the callous, despicable, conniving Fagin. This movie still stands up today. It features good acting, writing and directing. Alec Guinness really owns the film with his fantastic performance as Fagin. On a side note, Alec Guinness clashed with the director when they were making the movie.
