When a high school principal begins an authoritarian crackdown on free speech, a widely diverse group of seniors band together to stage a series of protest demonstrations condemning the dangerous hypocrisy they see running rampant in the school administration. This was an interesting movie that was a nice change from your usual coming-of-age film. The principal is obviously very corrupt. First, she assaults a student by ripping condoms off her body and suspends her. Then she expels another student after he makes a statement that, to her, is disruptive. Finally, she, being homophobic, expels a third student for kissing his boyfriend in the hallway. She also fires a teacher for disagreeing with her about the students. However, not all adults are portrayed in a negative light in this movie. I like how one girl's mother was very supportive of her. She seamed to have no problem with her daughter dating, which is a nice change from how mothers are usually portrayed in these types of films. She was also supportive of her daughter's friends. This movie, which is inspired by true events, is worth a look.
