In this sensual film about an expatriate, Lawrence and a struggling American writer, Elena manage to find each other and love in 1939 Paris. As the world sits poised on the brink of war, Elena embarks on her adventure writing erotic fiction and, later, acting out her stories This movie had no redeeming qualities whatsoever and I turned if off after the first half hour. There's a slight difference between the "R" rated version and the "NC-17" rated version. The former version cut out some of the nudity. It cut out a shot of her pubic hair. The latter version retained all of its nudity.
