The only way football star Stefan Djordjevic will avoid a life in the blast furnaces of his bleak Pennsylvania hometown is by winning a college scholarship. But it's not long before he and his coach virtually ruin each other's chances for escape . . . and their door to the future starts to close. Well to start off, this is your usual high school movie. It had some good acting, even by the actor who portrayed the coach, who I considered an underwritten character. Unlike Stefen and Lisa, who were portrayed three-dimensionally, he was portrayed much more one or two-dimensionally, which is poor character development. Because of this, when they tried to give the coach a bit more depth at the end of the film, his performance was still flat. I did like how they developed Lisa since it's unusual for a love interest to have the depth that she had; a lot of them simply stand around looking pretty and get rescued. I did think the acting was quite good, but the script could have had a bit more work done to it to make the coach a more interesting character. As for the directing, it seamed to be just fine. Overall, this is a decent movie that you only watch once.
