This was the very first acrylic painting I ever did, and it hangs in the den.  It's the Cape Henry Lighthouses at Virginia Beach.  Even though it's a 16x20" painting, it was much easier than the watercolor of Ricky!  (Sorry, there's a little glare on the pic).
I did this for my college art class.  We had to take a photo of a still life (left), upload it in PhotoShop and shade it in a complementary scale, then paint a reproduction of it (right).  Keep in mind that the colors aren't supposed to be exactly like they are in the photograph, since color printers have a different color scale.
This was by far the easiest painting I've ever done!  I got this done in just 4 1/2 hours over two days!!  Here's Darth Sidious discovering what's left of Anakin Skywalker after a duel with Obi-Wan on Mustafar.  This is a 9x12".  Click here for a larger version.
