Kinggoji
Films used in: KING KONG VS. GODZILLA (1962)
Suit Actors: Haruo Nakajima, Katsumi Tezuka
Kinggoji was a huge change for Godzilla suits. This film was aimed to be a fun film for a younger audience than the previous two films. Because of this, Godzillas appearance was changed to seem friendlier, although Godzilla is still an evil menace to Japan in the film. The center row of dorsal fins was enlarged a little bit, and the other two rows of dorsal fins were made smaller. To make Godzilla look less of an evil being, the fangs in front of his mouth were not included on the suit. Godzillas eyes were much larger than before and sported a yellow color, and Godzilla only had three toes this time. Godzillas head was also made longer. Kinggoji also weighed more than the previous suits. Overall, this suit gave Godzilla a less menacing look, and worked very well with what Toho was trying to achieve in KING KONG VS. GODZILLA (1962).
