| August 5th, 2006: Website launches! The world celebrates and gazes in awe!
In other news, G-Fest XIII recently took place this year in Chicago, Illinois. During G-Fest, a trailer was shown of the upcoming fan film Godzilla: Zero Hour. Fans were blown away, and are eagerly awaiting its completion. Creator Franz Vorenkamp was surprised by the amount of praise he recieved. The film stars Godzilla, Gamera, Gyaos, Legion, and Gigan. King Ghidorah was originally planned for the film too, but Franz believed that King Ghidorah should be an unstoppable power house, and he wasn't that for his role in the script, so Franz edited him out. Franz and his crew of G-fans promise this movie will have good acting, very deep character development, a strong plot, and great action. But, the biggest thing about this film is the CGI. The kaiju keep their original Japanese designs, but Franz has made all the monsters in amazing CGI, especially for his age. Although the kaiju scenes are made in full CGI, the human scenes are done with live action. The scenes are being filmed with an amateur film maker's dream camera: the Canon XL2. Although most of the plot hasn't been revelaled yet, it has been announced that the films in GZH's time line are the following: Godzilla (1954) - Godzilla 1984 (1984) - Godzilla vs. Biollante (1989) - Gamera: Guardian of the Universe (1995) - Gamera 2: Attack of Legion (1996) - Gamera 3: Revenge of Iris (1999) But wait! There is more! The characters' names in GZH are based off of well known G-fans. Here is a list of character names, and what they are based on: 1) Bob Keith plays Lucas Ballard, whose last name is a nod to the well known James Ballard, owner and operator of popular website www.tokyomonsters.com 2) Charles McKinnon plays Gabe McIntire, whose name is a salute to Gabe McIntosh, who's art inspired much of the artistry in GZH. 3) Mike Royer plays Alexander Jackson Smith, who's initials A.J Smith are a tribute to founder of the Monster Zero News network, Aaron J. Smith, who saddly passed away not too long ago. 4) Kevin Jones plays John D. Leeson, whose name is a tribute to J.D Lees, creator and editor of G-Fan magazine, and founder of G-Fest, previously known as G-Con. There is even more to this spectcular fan film, but that is enough for now. More news on GZH will be posted later. Until then, for more information, check out Franz's website, www.kaijunet.com.
