i got you*
chapter 2

Justin sat up in bed, glancing over at the sleeping figure at his side.  He shook his head.  That had been the worst sex he had had that week.  Needless to say he was pissed off.
"Hey," he said, shaking her softly.  "Hey, umm..." Justin paused; he couldn't even remember her name.
"Hmmm?"  The young blond girl opened her eyes sleepily and smiled.  "Oh... hey."
"Hi... listen.  It's been fun, but I have a lot to do today and" Justin began.
"I'm fucking tired!" she snapped.  "You better not be kicking me out of this hotel room at this hour of the morning!"
"Well..." Justin said glaring at her.  "If you had put out better last night, I would be letting you sleep."
"You're a pig!" she shouted.
"Just get out!  Before I have my bodyguards throw you out!" Justin yelled, ripping the covers off of her.
"Fucking asshole!" the girl screamed, getting out of the bed, and started gathering her clothes off of the floor.
Justin sighed and pulled the blanket around his naked body.  "Just get out," he grumbled as he closed his eyes, wanting to get back to sleep.
"I hope your stupid album sucks!" the girl screamed before storming out of the room and slamming the door behind her.
Justin started laughing hysterically.  He didn't know why he had slept with her now that he thought about it.  She had seemed so much different to him when he had met her at the club the previous night.  Maybe it was because he was drunk.  Yes that had to be it.  Trace must have been really drunk too; otherwise he would have never let him sleep with that girl.  He would have to smack him later.  Until then, he was going to get some more sleep.  He had another party to go to that night, and the last thing he wanted was to be was tired.
~*~*~*~
JC walked down the hallway of the WEG compound, still smiling from the phone conversation he had with Amber that morning.  He looked up just in time to see Chelsea... as she walked right into him.
"Oh," Chelsea said dropping papers onto the floor.  "I'm sorry JC," she said dropping down to pick up the papers.  "I'm such a dumb-ass."
JC looked down, sighed, and bent down to help her, "It's ok... I should've been paying more attention."
"Thank you," she said, a little shocked that JC was treating her like normal human being, as they finished gathering up the papers.
"No problem," he smiled.  "Listen, I know you're new and all, but Lance is throwing this party tonight," JC paused and snickered.  "Actually, he had one last night too, but he's throwing another one tonight. You're welcome to come. You can meet the other guys there, and some other people you might not know."
"Oh," Chelsea said, a little shocked.  "I don't know... I don't think I would..."
JC cut her off, "Come on, just say you'll go.  It'll be fun, and besides, I think it'll be good for you, maybe it'll get you to loosen up a little bit and not be so damn tense all the time."
"I'm not tense," Chelsea said unconvincingly.
"You don't lie well," JC snickered.  "You should go... if you ever want to fit in around here that is."
"Fit in?" Chelsea said coldly.
"Yeah," JC sighed.  "You don't want to be the known as 'klutz girl' for your whole career do you?"
"Well... no," Chelsea said, looking at the floor.
"Then you should come, it'll show them how much of a laid back person you are, and believe me its always good to show those kind of people that you're not a loser," JC smiled.
"I'm not a loser!  God, you're such a jerk!" Chelsea pouted.
"Look," JC huffed.  "That came out wrong.  I didn't mean for you to think that I think you're a loser.  But according to some of the stuck up snobs that go to these kind-of things, they already think they know what kind of person you are.  Believe me, it'll make things easier for you if you just let loose and come.  Come on, you're a good looking girl and you need to have a little fun, you need to come out of that shell of yours," he smiled his perfect smile, figuring it might make her give into him.
Chelsea looked down at her papers turning red faced at his comment.  He said she was good looking.  JC Chasez said that SHE Chelsea Summers was good looking.  She convinced herself she must have been dreaming and tried to think of some good excuse to give him so that she could get out of going to this party.  But the thought of all those people talking about her behind her back, saying what a loser she was made her want to go.  Just to prove to them all that she was a person too.  "I'll think about it," she groaned, giving into his picture perfect smile.
"Great, I'll let Lance know that you'll be there."  JC smiled and quickly hurried away before she could protest any further.
"JC!  I didn't say I was diffidently going!" she called after him, but he pretended not to hear her.  She sighed.  To top it off, Justin was going to be there.  Justin Timberlake.  Just the thought of that gorgeous man made her weak in the knees.
What the hell was she going to wear?
~*~*~*~
Chelsea sat at her desk, trying to get the papers that she had dropped in the hallway back in order.  She still couldn't believe her conversation with JC had turned out the way it had.  She couldn't believe he had actually invited her to a party.  She couldn't fathom why in the world he would say she was good looking.  Nobody had ever said she was good looking before.  Why did it happen now?  And why with such a famous, good looking person?
She let out a sigh of relief as she finally got the papers back in order.  Now all she had to do was finish the mounds of other paper work that she had to do.  As she began to get into yet another project, the phone began to ring.  She sighed, she was never going to get out of here tonight.
"Hello?" She answered tiredly.
"Hey girl...what's up?"
A smile spread across Chelsea's face as she recognized who was calling her.  "Hey Amber! How are you?"
"I'm good."  She chuckled, "Swamped with schoolwork, but still good.  How's the job going?"
"It's not going," Chelsea muttered.
"Uh oh.  That doesn't sound good," Amber replied, pretending to know nothing. Even though she had been with JC for over a year, no one knew that they were together.  Not even Chelsea.  "What happened?"
"Well, yesterday I spilt coffee onto JC's pants, and you can guess where most of it landed."
"Ouch," Amber snickered, remembering the story that JC had told her.
"Then I ran into him not even ten minutes ago and practically tackled him to the floor.  My papers got all messed up, and I just finished sorting them out again.  Needless to say Amb, this hasn't been the easiest first week for me," she sighed.
"Aww Chels', don't worry about it.  I'm sure after this week you'll get into the swing of things.  I have faith in you," Amber said reassuringly.
"Thanks Amber," Chelsea said softly.
"Anything else happen?" she asked kinda working on her English paper.
"Actually, I had the strangest conversation with JC.  He invited me to go to some party."
"Really?  He did?" Amber asked surprised.
"Yeah, and get this.  He said that I was quote, 'a good looking girl'." Chelsea said skeptically.
Amber smiled, and wanted to kiss JC for being such a sweetheart to her friend. "Aww, Chels' that's so sweet.  And by the way, you are a good looking girl."
"No I'm not," she chuckled.
"Stop that, you know you are."
"Well, maybe in the normal world I am.  But in this world that I somehow got mixed up in, I'm nothing."
"Well, if you would stop putting yourself down all the time, maybe you would be something," Amber sighed.  "Girl, I wish you would learn to have some more confidence in yourself."
"It's hard!" Chelsea whined.  "These people are so different, and if I go to this party, I will be treated that way."
"Not if you show them that you believe in yourself."
Chelsea sighed, "Have you heard from Josh?" she asked, wanting to change the subject.
"Yeah, he just called me a few hours ago." Amber said nonchalantly.  "I really miss him.  We haven't seen each other over a year."
"I still don't understand why," Chelsea laughed.  "You would think the guy was some kind of superstar, the way his schedule is."
"Yeah, really," Amber laughed nervously.
"Imagine if he was Amber... and like, he just didn't want to tell you.  Could you imagine?" Chelsea asked dreamily.
"Yeah... imagine that," Amber said quickly wanting to avoid her boyfriend's career altogether.  "So... anyways.  I've been thinking a lot over the past month Chels'.  Maybe I should give up on Josh and just tell him that it's over, that we should see other people until we know we have time for each other.  I want us to be able to enjoy our youth and not have to wait around for each other, you know?"
Chelesa couldn't believe what she was hearing.  "Amber Nikole.  You've been with this guy for what, six years?  That's a long time, you shouldn't throw it away simply because your having a hard time finding time to be with each other.  I'm sorry but you're NOT going to do that to him."
Amber laughed, "Ok MOM.  Geez.  You're starting to sound like one of my professors."
"Scary," she laughed.  "Hey, I better go, I'm going to get hollered at if I don't finish up this paperwork."
"All right Chels'.  And you better go to that party," Amber warned.
Chelsea sighed.  "Do you really think it's a good idea?"
Amber groaned, "YES... I think it's cool that JC asked you to go.  You'll have fun."
"Ok.  You win.  I'll go.  I don't have anything better to do anyway."
"Great.  Call me and tell me all about it.  I better go.  The girls' next door asked me to go out and eat lunch with them.  So, talk to you later."
"Alright.  Bye." Chelsea smiled.
"Bye Bye Bye," Amber sang laughing and hung up.
Chelsea sighed, hoping that this party was going to be fun, and not a total disaster.
~*~*~*~
Justin pulled up in Lance's driveway and parked.  He jumped out of his Escalade and looked around, trying to find somebody he recognized amongst the partygoers that were milling around outside the house.  He smiled when he saw her.  Jenny.  Oh, Jenny.  How he loved the way her dress clung to her body, accenting her sexy figure.  He could almost smell her heavenly scent from where he was standing.  He breathed out heavily and made his way over to her.
Once she noticed him, a wide grin crossed her face.  She knew just as well as he did where she would be at the end of the night.  She pulled away from the random guy she had brought to the party with her and walked quickly over to Justin.  "Hey you, I was wondering when you would show up."
He chuckled, "Here I am."
"So..." She began to say, with a mischievous smile on her face, caressing his chest with her fingers.  "You wanna party here for a little while, or do you want to go and make a party of our own?"
"Sex is better when you get riled up beforehand," Justin laughed.  "Let's go dance."
Jenny laughed.  "You have a point J.  Let's go."  She took him by the hand and pulled him inside the house.
They must have been dancing for a good hour, before Justin finally removed his hands that had been seemingly attached to her ass.  "I'm going for a beer," he said breathlessly, leading her over to the plush leather sofa.  "You want?"
"Oh yea," Jenny said breathlessly.
"Cool."  He smiled and walked away.  All the while, making plans for what would happen post-party.
~*~*~*~
Chelsea sighed as she gazed at her reflection in the mirror, trying to decide whether or not the ensemble she had chosen to wear for the party was acceptable.  She shook her head and sighed.  She knew what acceptable was in the normal world.  In the normal world, this would have been the ideal outfit for her to wear, but to a party chock full of celebrities and high profile people?  She was sure that this was far from their standards.  But this was the most expensive thing she owned.  She had no other options.
She shrugged; it was going to have to work.  She shut her eyes for a minute, the thought of calling JC and telling him she didn't feel up to going to the party immediately crossing her mind.  Right before she had left work that day JC had offered to pick her up and give her a ride to the party.  After several minutes of hearing him whine about it, she had reluctantly agreed.  She didn't want to go now.  She was going to be the laughing stock of the thing.
But of course, before she could take a step towards the phone, a knock came at the door.  She groaned miserably.  "Of course!" she exclaimed.
She opened the door, to reveal a very handsome looking JC with a large box tucked under his arm. "Hey," he smiled.  "You ready?"
"No," she muttered.  "Look at me," she said, pointing at her outfit.
JC smiled. "It pays to be prepared," he chuckled, handing her the large, flat box.
"What's this?" she asked him with confusion as she took the box from him.
"Open it."
"JC..." she began as she opened the box and pulled the tissue paper to the sighed. She gasped when she saw what he had gotten for her.
"I hope it fits you," he smiled, seeing the shocked _expression on her face.  "When I described you to the lady, she said that it probably would."  With a little help from someone else that described what size she wore and color that went with her eyes.  He whispered a small 'thank you' to Amber in his head.
Her mouth hung open for a moment.  It was a dark-blue silk long dress with the straps off the shoulders.  She couldn't believe he would have done something like this for her. "JC... this dress... it must have cost at least eight hundred."
"It doesn't matter what it cost," JC whispered.  "I... I wanted you to have a good time tonight, and not worry about what you're wearing."
"That's really nice of you JC," Chelsea blushed. "But..."
JC held up his hand.  "No more buts Chelsea.  I went to all the trouble of getting this for you.  You're GOING."  Knowing she would back out thanks to Amber calling and telling him that the two girls talked earlier.
Chelsea sighed, "I guess I don't have a choice."
JC laughed.  "Nope."
"All right, let me change." Chelsea smiled as she pulled the dress out of the box.
~*~*~*~
Chelsea smiled.  They were over a mile away from Lance's house, but she could already hear the music blasting.  "Don't the cops get angry that his music is so loud?" she asked JC as he drove.
"The cops only get angry if we don't invite their kids to our celebrity filled parties," JC snickered.  "We're covered."
Chelsea rolled her eyes, "Well that isn't very fair."
"What really is fair if you aren't rich?" JC shrugged.  "You could make a reservation a month in advance in New York City's best restaurant, and on the night of your dinner my girlfriend and I could walk in.  Say the place is booked solid, who do you think the host is going to give the table to?"
"Self absorbed are we?" Chelsea grumbled.
"I'm not self absorbed.  I'm just telling it like it is," JC nodded.  "Look, that's Lance's house." He said, pointing to a huge house in the distance.
Chelsea peered ahead, and even though they were still a good distance away she could already see that Lance's house was about ten of hers put together.  "Wow," she gasped.
"You think that's big?" JC smirked. "You should see Justin's.  Now that is a house."
Chelsea tried to hide her smile.  "I'm sure it is," she said quickly, not wanting to get on the subject of Justin Timberlake.  She already knew he was going to be at the party, and was already nervous about it.  She didn't need to get any more nervous.  She pulled down the sun visor, wanting to check her makeup while she still had the chance.
She sighed as she saw that her mascara had run a little bit.  She opened up the glove compartment, in search of a tissue.  She pulled on it, and after a couple of yanks it flew open, sending garbage flying into her lap.  "Whoops," she laughed.
"It's ok, it's not your fault, I over stuff that thing sometimes," JC laughed.
"I would say this is a lot more than overstuffing."  Chelsea laughed as she began to put the garbage back into the glove compartment.  "You're supposed to keep your garbage in a house JC.  Not in your car."
"So I'm messy," JC rolled his eyes.
As Chelsea neared the end of the pile of rubbish, she uncovered a small photograph with writing on the back with a date from last year.  She curiously flipped it over and gazed at the picture.  Her eyes widened as she realized whom the girl that was standing next to JC in an evening gown that would have cost six of her rents for her apartment plus the dress that she was also wearing.  "This is... Amber."  She gasped, "You're Josh"
"Huh?" JC said confused, finally looking over to see what Chelsea was fussing over.
"You're dating Amber aren't you Josh?" she asked finally putting two and two together.
JC looked out at the road trying to think of some story to tell her, "No," he said quickly, "That's Nicole"
"Which is Amber's middle name.  Don't be lying JC.  You are dating her aren't you?" she asked.
"Yes," he answered reluctantly.
"So that's why she would never tell me anything about you," Chelsea smiled.  "It all makes sense now."
"Please don't tell people," JC said with pleading eyes.  "I don't need her getting harassed about it."
Chelesa folded her arms in front of her chest. "I doubt that JC.  I wouldn't tell for Amber sake's anyways.  She's a close friend of mine and you're my employer so if I did tell... I'd get fired."  Chelsea sighed,  "I just wish you two could be together more.  The last time I talked to her... she sounded like she was going to end..." Chelsea began to say, not even thinking.  "Never mind."
JC pulled up in front of Lance's house and shut off then engine.  He was silent for a moment, trying to comprehend what she had just began to say, "She wants to break up?" he asked.
"I don't think she wants to really," Chelsea said, trying to make him feel better.  "It's just that she hasn't seen you in so long, she probably doesn't want you to be tied down when you could be with somebody else.  Somebody who could always be with you."
He remained silent, got out of the car, and angrily slamming the door behind him.
"Josh?" Chelsea asked as she got out of the car.
"Not now," he said, trying to keep the pain out of his voice.  "We are here to have fun.  Let's go in," he said, plastering a fake smile across his face and started to walk towards the door.
She wanted to smack herself for telling JC about how Amber felt.  How could she have been so dumb?  It didn't matter now.  She had to fix this, and fast.
~*~*~*~
JC and Chelsea walked into the party, and JC just walked off leaving her at the door.  She shyly looked around smiling at all the Celebrities that were there and she went by and saw a bunch of girls around someone and figured out that it was Joey, and went over to say 'hi'.
"Hi Joey," she said shyly.
Joey turned around, "Hi.  You're the new girl at WEG right?  Chelsea right?"
"Right," she said smiling surprised that Joey knew about her already.
"Do you care to join us?" he asked smiling.
"No, you have your own little party.  I was looking for JC.  He promised that he'd stay by my side and just came in here and left."
"He's around here somewhere.  He's probably calling Amber since it's kinda late."
"Oh no," she quietly said, "Well, thanks.  I'll see you at WEG I guess."
"Bye." he said.
She noticed that the girls were giving her looks before she even left.  She looked for JC and spotted Chris watching a rerun football game since the season was over, and was sure that he wasn't paying any attention around him, so she didn't ask him, and went on.  She spotted Lance and surprised herself seeing how nice he looked then the pictures that she saved from the magazines over the few years.  She decided not to ask him since he was busy talking to some business looking people; and went for another JC hunt until she bumped into Justin who had drinks in his hand and luckily didn't spill.
"H.... Hi Justin," she said shyly.
"Hey Chelsea.  You came to the party after all.  Cool.  Glad that you made it," he said smiling at her.  "How did you get here?" he asked puzzled.
"Oh, JC brought me."
"Cool."  Glad that JC at least cared.
"Um, do you know by any chance where's he's at?" she asked.
"Yea, outside talking to Amber.  But he's kinda upset."
"I know."
"If you know, what happened?"
"I figured out he and MY friend Amber are dating after finding a picture in the car, and I said something that I shouldn't have, and well..."
"What?"
"I told him that Amber was thinking about breaking up with him and move on since they haven't seen each other for over a year."
"What?  Amber does.  After being together after 6 years.  That's just wrong.  She can't do that," he said.
"I know, I told her not too, she said that she wouldn't, but I guess JC didn't hear me and decided to just go call her."
"Oh I see, well I bet that phone call isn't a happy one," he said.
"Yeah, well I'm gonna go now I'll talk to you later," she said.
"Ok, have fun tonight, bye."  He walked off.
Chelsea walked outside to where JC was talking on his cell phone to Amber.  His facial _expression wasn't a smile.
~*~*~*~
~earlier~
JC paced the deck outside of Lance's home, and sighed.  He couldn't believe what Chelsea told him.  Amber wanted to break up with him.  HIM... JC... JOSH... OF *NSYNC, for six years.  He went to the edge, looked out into the pool, and closed his eyes with a smile.
He flashed back to the first day they met.  The group just started in the USA, they were on tour, and Chris was craving for something sweet, so they pulled into a town, and went to a Wal-mart, and they all headed inside with their guards.  Amber was a cashier there, checked JC out, and when he started to leave, he forgot a bag.  Amber hands it to him with a piece of paper with her name, number, and address.  She figured that he wouldn't care but knew that he might want a friend to talk to, and she was available anytime.  He did call her, two days later.  He couldn't stop thinking about her, and the guys told him to call her, and so they talked, and talked, then met, went out on dates, she figured out who he was, went to award shows with him, to the concerts in town, and kept it from everyone that she was dating JC from *NSYNC, and when people were around she'd call him Josh.  But with the popularity after their second album 'No Strings Attached' came out, they couldn't spend A LOT of time together anymore.
But what Chelsea said came back; he grabbed his cell phone, "Call Amber," he said into the phone and listened for her to pick up.
"Hello?" he was asked by a soft voice, but it wasn't Amber.
"Whose this?  Where's Amber?" he asked.
"Is this Josh?  It's Elan.  She's over on stage working on her lines for the musical."  Elan was Amber's roommate and in Amber's drama class.
"I really need to talk to her."
"She's busy Josh.  She'll have to call you back."
"Please Elan?" he asked.
"Look, she's busy ok.  She has a life too just like you do.  So give her an hour and call back.  Bye."  Elan hung up.
JC closed his cell and screamed.  He couldn't believe it.  Right when he needs to talk to her, she's busy.  Maybe Amber told Elan that she wasn't going to take any calls from him.  He started to cry a little, sat down in a chair, and ran his hands through his hair.
"JC?" he heard someone ask.
He looked over to see Chelsea looking at him.  "Go away."
"Look, I'm sorry.  I shouldn't have told you that.  It slipped.  I told her not to tell you.  She was just thinking about it was all."
"Well for your information, I talked to Elan, her roommate and friend from class.  Amber was working on her lines for the musical," he said dryly.
"Oh," she said, "Um, I'll go ahead and leave you alone."  She turned away, and headed back inside.
Before she shut the door, she heard him cry even more, and caught, "Over a year, we're done.  Our relationship is gone."
She knew that she had to do something, with a little bit of help.
~*~*~*~
Amber got done with drama, she and Elan walked back to their room together.
"Oh, just so you know, Josh called," Elan told her as they walked the path.
"When?" she asked shocked.
"Oh, about an hour ago."
"What did he say?"
"He really wanted to talk to you."
Amber looked at her watch.  JC might still be at Lance's party, so she grabbed her cell and tried.
"He's a jerk Amber.  Not spending time with you is so dumb, you should just move on," Elan told her, but Amber didn't listen.
"Hello?" she heard him answer, which sounded like he was crying.
"Hi," she said, "It's me."
Soon she heard, "What in the hell did I do to you?  You want to break up?  After all these years you want to break up?  We had six great years together Amber... six..."
"Josh what are you talking about?" she asked confused.
"Well, Chelesa figured it out.  She found that picture of us at the Grammy's last year in the car, and put the two and two together.  She said that you two talked and wanted to break up with me.  Is that true?"
"No." Amber said finally getting a word in, "I told her that I was THINKING about it.  I was going to talk to you about it, but she told me not to.  But I think we should.  I mean, a year Josh.  One year and you can't even come see me, or help me come see you?"
"I told you we have been busy.  Now we've slowed down some, Justin's working on his own album, Joey's going to New York City soon for Broadway... Lance is going to be in NASA, maybe we can see each other in a few weeks."
"I have one more month of school left..." Amber then sighed as they reached outside the dorms.  "Can I talk to Josh alone Elan?" she asked.
"Sure," she said knowing what Amber was going to say next and headed inside.
"What's going on?" he asked.
Amber sat down on the stairs, looked up at the sky and smiled at the North Star.  "Josh, look up and find the North Star."
JC looked around and smiled, "Found it."  They did it when they were outside or inside talking on the phone.  It was a way that they knew that they were seeing the same thing.
Amber started to cry.  "I got offered to study art in Venice for the entire summer.  I got offered to go to a traveling drama class for the summer.  I got offered to even go to the internationals for my songs that I wrote."  She cried more.  "I don't know what to take JC.  That's why I said that maybe we should break up.  Let me go do what I want to do, you go do what you want to do."
JC couldn't believe what he was hearing.  She got offered three summer courses, and didn't know which one to take.  It was her dream for all three of them.  She had to choose one for the summer.  "Baby, I can't choose for you.  But you make the right one.  But I don't want to break up; we can do this.  Trust me."
"You don't want to?" she asked trying to stop.
"No.  I will NOT break up our relationship."  He calmed down, "Amber.  Look at your left hand ok, see that ring on your finger?"  It was a promise ring with their birthstones embedded.  "That's love.  I love you.  I'll Never Stop Loving You," he sang.  Amber laughed, he knew how to make her happy.  "Now, let's go to bed ok.  You have an early class in the morning.  I'll give you a wake up call, ok?" he asked.
"Ok," she said wiping her tears away.  "I love you."
"I love you too."
"Night."
"Night."
They both hang up and look up at the North Star, and they both head inside.
