Introduction
Welcome to our brand new website!
Rebecca and I just decided about a week ago to start collecting world
coins. Our goal is to collect a set of coins from every country in the
world. We are looking for traders from around the world who are interested
in AMATEUR trade. This website is simple, but is dedicated to those who
are legitimately interested in coin trade. Take a look around, and contact
us if you are interested!
Trading
We live in the United States, so
primarily coins from the United States are what we have to offer right now.
If you are looking for U.S. coins then this is probably a good fit for you.
We prefer trading in (somewhat) bulk, that is, several coins to a roll of coins
at a time. This cuts down on postage costs and will help build larger
collections for both traders involved. As I said, we are amateurs and are
extremely excited by the prospect of trading say, a roll of American pennies,
for say, a roll of British pennies. We are interested in all kinds of
coins, from all countries as long as we don't have them already.
We do our best when sorting out our
duplicates to only keep coins of good quality. That is, we try not to keep
coins with any rust, corrosion, major scratches or defacement. We
are trading coins that have been circulating though, so more often than not they
aren't in mint condition. As such, we do not expect perfect coins from our
traders. We DO expect DECENT coins. This will be left to both
parties judgment, and if either are significantly dissatisfied, a return trade
can always be arranged. Of course, we trade by approximate nominal values
(i.e. a penny for a penny, or about eight quarters for a pound, etc.) unless the
coin has some extremely high rarity or value. We will maintain and post
periodically a list of good traders and bad traders to help keep people honest
and informed about bad traders.
Lists
The lists were created in Microsoft
Access and are in .rtf format. This format is readable in most versions of
Microsoft Word. The coin book we use (and highly recommend to those
serious about trading), is the 2004 Standard Catalog of World Coins,
1901-Present, 31st Edition, by Krause and Mishler. All different types of
coins in the world are given unique identifying "KM" numbers in this text.
These are referenced in the lists you will download so it is definitely useful
to have a copy of the book on hand. There are two lists currently
available, and they are pretty self explanatory. We are willing to trade to you
anything on our "duplicate" list, in exchange for anything that is NOT on our
"have" list.
Feel free to contact us with any questions or suggestions to
make the site better. We are looking forward to lots of fun! Happy
Trading!
