TEST RIGS, TEST CRT'S
THE ONE ON TOP IS AN OLD SEL-SOL CRT SUBSTITUTER.  BACK IN THE DAY, THEY HADN'T MADE A GOOD CRT TESTER YET.  THE REPAIRMAN WOULD TIE THIS INTO THE SET UNDER REPAIR.  IF THE SCREEN LIT UP, THAT WOULD HAVE INDICATED THE SET'S CRT WAS BAD.  I USE IT FOR SETS WITH METAL TUBES.  I ALSO HAVE A 5AXP4 TEST CRT.  I'LL USE THAT FOR SETS WHERE THE CRT MOUNTS TO THE CHASSIS.  THIS IS HELPFUL FOR SETS WHERE THE CRT IS LARGE, OFF-CENTER OR BOTH.

  THE ONE ON THE BOTTOM IS AN OLD TELE-MATIC RIG.  I USE IT FOR COLOR SETS.  THE CABINET IS AN OLD SYLVANIA.  THE CHASSIS WAS BEYOND REPAIR, BUT THE CRT WAS USEABLE.  I HAVE THE CONVERGENCE LOADS AND CRT ADAPTERS NEEDED.  I CHOSE THE CABINET YOU SEE BECAUSE IT'S MORE COMPACT THAN THE ORIGINAL, PLUS, THE ORIGINAL CRT WAS ABOUT DEAD. 

  THESE RIGS ARE VERY HELPFUL.  I CAN DIAGNOSE PROBLEMS WITHOUT HAVING TO CONSTANTLY PUT THE CHASSIS BACK IN THE CABINET.  THE TEST CRT IS SMALL, ALLOWING ME TO TURN A CHASSIS ON ITS SIDE.  TO ME, THESE ARE JUST AS INPORTANT AS A VARIAC.  I'LL EVENTUALLY POST PICS OF THE RIGS IN USE.
