HERE IS THE CHASSIS WITH THE TEST CRT INSTALLED.  THIS WILL MAKE THINGS EASIER.  I WILL DO SOMETHING TO KEEP THE ANODE LEAD AWAY FROM METAL, ME, ETC.  YOU CAN SEE THE MOUNTS FOR THE METAL CRT.  I WILL REPAINT THE HIGH VOLTAGE CAGE.  BASED ON WHAT I GOT AFTER THE SOFT START, RECAPPING MAY BE ALL THAT'S NEEDED.  I WILL TEST ALL TUBES AND REPLACE ANY THAT HAVE HEATER-CATHODE LEAKAGE.  THIS SHOULD BE AN EASY ONE.
HERE IS THE UNDERSIDE OF THE CHASSIS.  ALL OF THOSE EVIL PAPER CAPS WILL BE REPLACED WITH NON-EVIL MYLARS.  THE ELECTROLYTIC CANS WILL BE LEFT IN PLACE AND DISCONNECTED.  THERE IS PLENTY OF ROOM FOR THE NEW ONES UNDERNEATH.  THE CARDBOARD CANS WILL BE REMOVED.  I WILL NOT RESTUFF THEM.

  I TOOK A SECOND LOOK AT THE TUNER.  I AM NOW THINKING THE KNOB MAY BE WRONG.  I CLEANED THE TUNER AND FOUND NO EVIDENCE OF TAMPERING.  I WILL ATTEMPT TO LOCATE A CORRECT KNOB.  FOR NOW, I'LL USE THE ONE THAT'S THERE.

  THE CABINET IS IN GOOD SHAPE.  THERE IS THE USUAL WEAR AND TEAR FOR A SET THIS OLD.  I WILL CLEAN IT UP.  IT WILL NOT NEED TO BE REFINISHED.

APR 2006:  I WAS AT THE EARLY TELEVISION MUSEUM ANNUAL CONVENTION.  STEVE HAS A SIMILAR SET IN HIS COLLECTION.  LOOKING AT HIS CONFIRMED THE TUNER KNOB ON MINE IS THE WRONG ONE.  I FOUND A SOURCE FOR SERVICE DATA AT THE CONVENTION.  RESTORATION WILL BEGIN VERY SOON.
HERE IS THE CHASSIS AFTER RECAPPING.  THE PICTURE FILLS THE SCREEN ON MY TEST TUBE.  THE SOUND HAS HUM, BUT NOT FROM BAD FILTER CAPS.  THE PROBLEM MAY BE AN ALIGNMENT ISSUE.  I AM STILL WAITING FOR AN E-FACT FOR THIS.  THE CARDBOARD ELECTROLYTIC CAN YOU SEE IS DISCONNECTED.  ONCE I HAVE A PRINT, I CAN PROCEED.
