I SCORED THIS ONE FROM AN ANTIQUE VENDOR IN COLUMBUS, OHIO.  HE SAID HE TRIED IT, AND THAT THERE WAS NO PICTURE.  THE CRT CHECKED DEAD ON THE CHECKER, SO I LET IT COOK FOR A FEW DAYS.  IT CAME UP SLOWLY.  I'LL CHECK IT AGAIN WHEN I DO THE RESTORATION.  THE CRACK IN THE SAFETY GLASS CAN BE FIXED.  I WILL NEED TO POLISH IT ANYWAY.  AFTER HAVING TROUBLE WITH TWO RCA SETS, I DECIDED TO DO THIS ONE. 

  I SOFT STARTED IT ON THE VARIAC.  TO MY SURPRIZE, I GOT PICTURE AND SOUND.  THERE IS A HUMBAR ON THE RIGHT SIDE.  THIS MEANS THE ELECTROLYTICS ARE BAD.  I WILL REPLACE THEM ALL.  THIS THING IS LOADED WITH PAPER AND BLACK BEAUTY CAPS.  THEY WILL ALL GO AWAY AND BE REPLACED WITH MODERN PARTS.

  THE LOUDSPEAKER WAS DAMAGED.  THE CARDBOARD RING AROUND THE CONE HAD PEELED OFF, AND THE CONE HAD A TEAR.  I REPAIRED THE CONE WITH SILICONE AND SUPERGLUED THE RING BACK ON.  ON NON-MOVING PARTS OF A SPEAKER, SUPERGLUE IS ALLOWED. 

  THIS IS A HOT CHASSIS SET.  I CHECKED THE PARTS THAT WOULD CONNECT TO THE METAL CABINET.  THERE WAS CONTINUITY.  LOOKING AT THE SCHEMATIC, ONE LUG ON THE POWER CORD GOES DIRECTLY TO THE CHASSIS, SO ALL I WILL NEED TO DO IS POLARIZE THE PLUG. 

  I WILL ATTEMPT A REPAIR OF THE SAFETY GLASS.  THE CRACK IS TIGHT.  I MAY BE ABLE TO FIX IT WITH SUPERGLUE.  I WILL THEN WET SAND AND POLISH THE GLASS.  HOPEFULLY, I WON'T SCREW IT UP.

  THE CRT IS NICE AND BRIGHT.  THIS WAS AFTER LETTING IT COOK AFTER I GOT THE SET (OVER A YEAR AGO). 
BEFORE RECAPPING.  I REMOVED THE CRT.  IT IS IN A SAFE PLACE.
