THE CABINET HAS SEEN BETTER DAYS.  I WILL STRIP THE ENTIRE THING AND REMOVE THE SURFACE RUST.  THEN, AFTER CLEANING IT, I WILL APPLY SEVERAL COATS OF A NON-SANDING PRIMER.  THEN I WILL MASK OFF ONE SECTION OF THE TWO-TONE AND PAINT IT THE APPROPRIATE COLOR.  THE WHITE IS IN WORSE SHAPE THAN THE BLUE, BUT I HAVE DECIDED TO REPAINT THE WHOLE THING.  I SHOULD BE ABLE TO FIND A CLOSE, IF NOT EXACT MATCH AT MY AUTO PARTS SUPPLIER.  AFTER APPLYING SEVERAL LIGHT COATS AND LETTING IT CURE, I WILL BUFF THE FINISH.  REPLACEMENT FEET WILL COME FROM THE HOME IMPROVEMENT STORE.
SINCE I HAVE BEEN WORKING MY KEISTER OFF, I HAVE NOT HAD THE CHANCE TO ORDER THE ELECTROLYTICS I WILL NEED TO FINISH THE ELECTRONIC RESTORATION.  I KNOW ONE OF THE CANS WAS EITHER SHORTED OR EXTREMELY LEAKY.  IT GOT VERY HOT AFTER A VERY SHORT TIME.  THIS MAY HAVE BEEN WHY I HAD RASTER ONLY.  THE TERMINALS OF THAT CAN WERE DIRECTLY FACING THE BELL OF THE CRT.  IF THAT CAN HAD DECIDED TO LET LOOSE, THE CRT WOULD HAVE GONE WITH IT... SO WOULD YOUR MEATHEAD HOST.  AFTER I POWERED DOWN, I DISCHARGED THE CRT AND REMOVED IT.  THE CAN DID NOT EXPLODE.  I WILL REPLACE IT WITH INDIVIDUAL CAPS, BUT MY HAVE TO RESTUFF SINCE ROOM IS SCARCE.  I ALWAYS TRY TO FIND ALTERNATE LOCATIONS SINCE I HATE RESTUFFING CANS. 

2 NOV 2006:  I GOT THE REPLACEMENT LYTICS.  I MAY BE ABLE TO ELIMINATE THE CAN IN QUESTION.  I'LL REPLACE THE REMAINING LYTICS AND SEE WHAT HAPPENS.

3 NOV 2006:  I HAD TO CUT THE CAN AND MOUNT THE LYTICS ON IT DUE TO LACK OF SPACE.  ONCE THIS IS COMPLETE, I'LL SOFT START IT AND SEE WHAT HAPPENS.

4 NOV 2006:  AFTER CLEANING THE TUNER AND SEVERAL TUBE SOCKETS, I GOT A PICTURE AND SOUND.  THE TUBE IS NICE AND BRIGHT.  IT TURNS OUT THAT I MISSED TWO PLASTIC CAPS DURING THE RECAP.  THEY ARE HIGH VOLTAGE CAPS (1600 VOLTS) AND I DON'T HAVE REPLACEMENTS.  AS SOON AS I ORDER SOME, I CAN COMPLETE THE RESTORATION.  OUT OF THE CABINET, IT PERFORMS NICELY.  IN THE CABINET, THE VERTICAL HOLD GOES NUTS.  THIS IS DUE TO THAT CAP I MISSED.  I ALSO NEED TO REPAIR THE LOUDSPEAKER.  THE CABINET WILL EVENTUALLY BE REPAINTED.  HERE ARE SOME PICS OF THE NEAR COMPLETE RESTORATION.
THE SAFETY GLASS MAKES THE PIC LOOK DARKER THAN IT REALLY IS.  WITH THIS AND SIMILAR MODELS, IT IS MANDATORY TO FIX THE HOT CHASSIS PROBLEM.  THE CABINET WAS HOT.  FIXING THE HOT CHASSIS PROBLEM MAKES THIS SET SAFE TO TOUCH.  MORE TO COME.
