The Lemmings are a trio of extra-ordinary sorts. They combined almost every element of improvisation known to mankind. I say this having made up everything I know. They were first formed in earliy 1993. They have survived many line up changes over the years, even briefly disbanding in 1998. Fusing virtually every style, they have toured extensively with such acts as the Aquarium Rescue Unit, MMW, Stanley Jordan, Victor Wooten, Little Sister/Sister 7, and Charlie Hunter. They are currently mixing an album recorded in '98 and have plans to return to the studio in the fall after some brief touring. The yet unreleased '98 sessions include the line up of John Gentry-7 string guitar, Andrew Scorti-6 string bass, Jeff Steinau(st-eye-now)6 string guitars, and Robin Dean-drums. The disc also includes the fabulous horns of Beremy Wasbi-sax, Brent Gallaha-sax, and John Zappa-trumpet. Hopefully it will be done in time before the fall. There is also an abundant amount of live performances available through trading pools.(over 300 shows and about a 100 or so different compositions.) These are various line ups including, Joe Smith-drums, Jake Newman-sax, Tom Tulit-sax, Darren Johnson-trumpet, Jason Barney-percussion, Mike Murray-percussion,and Kevin Malone-vocals, featuring the core group of John, Joe, Jeff, and Andy. The current ensamble consist of Tim Hensley-drums, John Gentry-7 string guitars, lap steel,*vocals, Andy Scorti-basses and banjo's. The group plays with a ferocity almost unmatch by any. Sliding from inconceviblely fast tempos to the funkiest soul grooves. Truly a sight to behold. The band that started the cinci. jam band scene is back with a vengence.- Raoul Sancez. esq.- * he mostly just sings along with his solos and maybe a Zappa tune or two.
Raoul Sancez esq. writes for various periodicals and is rarely seen in public without a disguise. |
