As the only child of Allan Cappa and Sarah Grace Taubman, Rachel had a privileged childhood and early adulthood. While she was still very young, her father Allan disappeared and is presumed dead. Sarah married Ira Meyer Grossman who promptly adopted Rachel, and fell quickly to doting upon his little girl.
An early traveler (due in large part to the demands of her parents diverse business associations) Rachel spent much of her youth in fine hotels around the world, so it comes as no surprise that she chose Hotel Management as her career. After graduating cum laude from Cornell University with a degree in Hotel Administration, Rachel spent several years in advancing positions at the Hyatt Regency (Dearborn, MI), the Ritz Carleton (Dearborn, MI) and the Ritz Hotel (London, England). It was her acquaintance with Bradley Carleton at the Hyatt Regency that brought her back to the U.S. by way of an offer she couldnt refuse as the Manager of Guest Relations at the Port Penn Lookout Resort. It was in the earliest days of this new position that Rachel met and joined up with the group, and shortly thereafter that she assumed the name and corresponding lifestyle of Elizabeth Fuller.
Adaptable and resourceful, Rachel takes great pride in her ability to put most people at ease in just about any situation (and in being able to make a delicious meal out of just about anything at hand). Growing up an only child who was seldom able to spend much time with people her own age, she is quick to form acquaintances. It does, however, take quite some time - or a profound event - to penetrate her conservative tendencies and private (almost secretive) nature and form a true friendship. |
