The Toyota SR coupe...Corolla...KE35...When the body & engine have been un-touched, they're not alot to look at. Now they're old & the engine is becoming obsolete, they certainly wouldnt be the 1st choise when shopping for a new car!
I was getting tired of the Civic, paying for it weekly & paying off Insurance. What was also a worry is that Hondas & V-TEC's are very costy cars for engine work & parts. At one stage as a random idea, was to put the 1.5L V-TEC-e engine into something old like a KE35 & use the 1.2L/1.3L twin carb engine into the modern body. Thinking there wouldnt be much difference in power & petrol.
After the 1st crash in it, I put the stereo into it with the dream of modifying it to make the grand-ma car look like something that everyone would wish they owned it.
Chosing to spend $1,000 on more stereo equipment over a body kit made things change. Then losing my job didnt help, so i was basically left with no spare cash to do anything.
Then came the 2nd accident, where a friend T-boned me in the drivers door!
After finally getting that fixed I decided it was time to sell.
I wanted a Toyota Corolla SR coupe 1976-1979 model. At first it was it wasent much, just a few interior mods would be the most I'd do, put in some more sounds, & a flash paint job.
The idea of a different engine was perfect for something a little different. Possibly a 12A or 13B rotary engine? No, I wanted to keep everything Toyota so its cheap & as to fix anything that goes wrong. Along came an old Toyota Corona, rear wheel drive with a 1.8 EFI engine with stainless 4 throttles
A few cups of coffee & $100 later I owned the beast.
Even if we had run it dry trying to start it up to drive it home. No matter, I only lived around the corner & the Civic easily handled the tow home.

Mine, being a 1800CC SX Corona, works out to be about 105Hp. Not alot to be impressed about, but I have few engine mods planned with the rest of things. The only thing I can see that could be holding me back is money!
