In UC 0081, Admiral James Carter was given approval to begin the developement of an elite corp of newtype soldiers in order to hunt down Zeon remnants. In order to provide adequate equipment for this new unit, Carter saw to the resurection of the G-4 Project and the Gundam "Alex", as well as several additional Gundam designs that until that point had either been scrapped or abbandonned. One of the units picked up by the carter administration was the Gundam AG-4, an improved version of the Alex which featured an inproved generator, slightly increased reaction time, and replaced one of it's arm gattlings with a small but powerful beam gun. This version of the Alex was originally intended for fire support against spaceborn targets not unlike a Guncannon, but the Gundam's unparalled manueverability and speed makes it far more dangerous in any environment. Like the other mobile suits of Project N, this Gundam features an FLS system in it's cockpit, giving this gundam incredible firing accuracy at long range. Like the other mobile suits of Project N, this unit would see most of it's action during the Delaz Fleet uprising of UC 0083, and the political and civil unrest that followed.
