The Dark Eldar Lord is powerful, but not Invincible alltogether. Running him and his retinue out into the open is not recommended, rather use a Raider if passing open plains. I learned this lesson the hard way when 6 memebers of my retinue (150 pts) were killed by the Imperial Guard after charging out into open terrain.
I've developed a tactic that can crush most armies, get into close combat. A large number of Incubi in Combination with A Lord and some Wyches with their special weapons. The only thing that will stand in your way is Swarms and Dreadnaughts. Swarms have many wounds and are good at delaying your forces. Dreadnaughts are very hard to kill in close combat. Dark Lances are good at taking out Dreadnaughts and they also overkill swarms.
The Lord is one of the most powerful close-combatants. When equipped with an agoniser he can kill a Wraith Lord in a single close combat phase. His initive is virtually unmatched. He is only bested by Special Characters. The C'tan ShadowBringer is a force to be reckoned with. Shoot him with heavy weapons and use Talos and your Lord to beat him.
Usually, mounting your HQ squad on a Raider is a good idea. Don't leave the Raider unprotected, as armour 10 open topped is not good for your survival. Whatever you do, don't give your Incubi assault weapons. If you read carefully, they lose their Punisher, and, if you're a half decent commander, three-quarters of the game your HQ squad will be in close combat.
Incubi vs. Terminator
The Incubi will win nine times out of ten, despite the fact that terminators are almost twice the points cost.
Incubi vs. Genestealer
The genestealer will usually win, though armour can prevail. Genestealers are similar points cost, but have higher initive and will do serious damage.
Overall
Play your strengths. Attack their heavy support, but not their assault troops (unless you can win.) Your HQ is a valuable resource, but as one should be spent wisely.
