| One of the defining albums of thrash metal, Master of Puppets is arguably Metallicas best album (as well as the last with bassist cliff burton). Focusing on the concept of power and abuses there of, this is a collection of complex and intelligent music, played at about 100 miles an hour. Not that these songs are short, this 8 track album clocks in at over an hour, which makes it more impressive as there is not one moment of the album which is boring. In tackling various approaches to their subject, Metallica are as insightful lyrically as they are musically. 'Welcome home (sanitarium)' is from the point of view of an institutionalised inmate and 'disposable heroes' is the perspective of a soldier. If all the metallica u have herd has been on kerrang or mtv2 then check this out. I seriously recommend this to anyone |
