One hundred and seventy-eight students from area schools gathered at the Palatka Mall on February 5, 2003 for the Putnam Regional Science and Engineering Fair. Schools represented in the junior division with 116 projects were Beasley Middle, Crescent City Jr. High, Jenkins Middle, Peniel Baptist Academy, and C.H. Price Middle. Fifty-nine Senior Division projects were represented by the following schools Crescent City Sr. High, Interlachen High, Palatka High, and Peniel Baptist Academy. JMS students were well-represented in all the categories.

Rena John, first place winner in Earth and Space Science, stated, "It was pretty fun that we still got to talk to our neighbors. I thought the judges were nice and they made me feel more comfortable."

Sarah Townsend, who won First place in Zoology and is now going to State Science Fair said, "I thought it was interesting. I just did not like the people telling us to sit down when we went a couple steps away from our project."

"I really liked talking to the judges because they made me feel comfortable," said Cara Cruce whose project was in the Chemistry division.

Jenkins Middle School Eagles proved, once again, that we can truly soar high by bringing back 6 first places, 4 second places and 6 third places. Our school will be represented at state competition by Sarah Townsend, Alan Bacon and Katie Brosky, and Charlie Overturf. Congratulations to everyone for an outstanding job.
