“Hey, has anyone see Chris?” Buck asked when he entered the office.
“I saw him after that meeting he had with AD Travis. But I haven’t see him
since.” Nathan answered.
Josiah looked up. “Actually, I believe Brother Vin managed to find himself
in a peck of trouble.”
“Why do you say that?”
“Because I happen to know the meeting with Travis was about something Vin
did.”
“Man, he musta really done something for Travis to get involved.” JD pointed
out.
Buck took a seat on Josiah’s desk. “All right…out with it. What Junior do?”
Josiah sighed. “Remember how Chris told us our case with the Jarnagan gang
was through because one of his thugs made Ezra?”
“He didn’t!”
“Yes he did.” Josiah felt some of the anger returning. “You know how Vin
is when it comes to dealing drugs to children. Damn fool just couldn’t leave
it alone.”
“What he do?” JD asked.
“Went back to that abandoned factory and tried to take them down himself.
Almost got himself shot in the process. Lucky for him Team 4 was in the area.
Managed to save scrawny ass.”
“Until Chris get’s a hold of it.” Buck added.

“Upstairs. Now!” Chris yelled and directed Vin to the house with a firm swat.
Vin didn’t need to be told twice. Chris started to follow when Ezra stopped
him.
“Chris. You need to calm down.”
“Calm down?! CALM DOWN?! He almost gets himself killed and you want me to
calm down?!”
“You can’t punish him when you angry like this.”
“Watch me.” He growled and started for the house. Ezra grabbed his arm to
stop him and suddenly found himself slammed up against the wall with his
arm twisted painfully behind his back. “Don’t you ever try to stop me again.
Am I clear?”
Ezra could smell the whiskey on Chris’s breath and sighed. He now knew why
Chris was acting the way he was…not that it made it right, but at least he
had an explanation. “You will not punish him while your drunk. I won’t allow
it.” He said angrily.
“You won’t allow it?” Chris let Erza’s arm go and spun him around. “Let me
tell you something boy, I’m the one in charge here, not you. So, unless you’d
like to be in the same position as Vin, I suggest you stop now.” He grounded
out and started for the house again.
Without any thought to his own safety, Ezra grabbed Chris from behind and
physically pulled him back towards the barn. Chris broke free and slammed
his fist into Ezra’s stomach.
The punch knocked the wind out of him and he fell to his knees. Chris stopped
and stared his lover, unable to believe he just hit him. He heard the screen
door slam and looked up to see Vin heading his way.
“What the fuck’s a matter with you?!” He yelled angrily.
“I’m sorry.” Was all Chris said before hopping into his truck and taking
off.
Vin squatted next to Ezra. “Ya okay?”
Ezra nodded as he pulled himself to his feet.
“What the hell happened?”
“He’s drunk.” Was all Ezra needed to say.
“Ah hell. Is it that time again?”
“Yes Vin, it is.”
Vin threw his arm around Ezra’s shoulders. “C’mon. Let’s get ya cleaned up.”
“What about Chris? You do realize he’s driving while intoxicated.”
“Yeah, I know. But there ain't much we can do.” Vin caught the look on Ezra’s
face. “Look, if he ain’t back by nightfall, we’ll go lookin', okay?”
Ezra wasn’t happy about waiting, but he knew Vin was right. “Okay.”
<><><><><><>
“See him yet?” Vin asked. Ezra turned from the window he was looking out.
“No. I’m starting to worry.”
Vin pulled him into a hug. “So am I. Should we call the others?”
“I think that would be best.” Ezra untangled himself from Vin’s arms and
headed for the phone. He decided to call Josiah first.
“Josiah?”
“Ezra?” Josiah looked at the clock. It was nearly midnight. “What’s wrong
son?”
“It’s that time of year again.”
“Time of year?” It took Josiah a second to realize what Ezra was talking
about, but when he did, he felt the anger course through his veins. “What
happened?”
Ezra told Josiah everything. “Vin and I are really worried. Do you think
you can call the others and see if they will help us look?”
“There’s no need for that. I know where he probably went.”
“You do?”
“Yes I do.” He started getting dressed. “You two stay there. I’ll get him
and bring him home with me.”
“But…”
“Just do as I say. I’ll bring him home safe and sound in the morning. I want
you to promise me you and Vin will stay home.”
Something in Josiah’s voice told Ezra to agree. “All right. I promise.”
“Good. We’ll see you in the morning then.”

Josiah parked his truck next to Chris’s and turned off the ignition. He looked
at the seedy bar in front of him and sighed. Only Chris would choose to come
here. He got out of the truck and headed inside.
He found Chris at a table by himself, pouring yet another shot from the half
empty whiskey bottle he climbed into. He pushed his anger down and
stalked to the table.
“What the hell do you think you’re doing young man?”
Chris looked up in surprise. “Josiah? What’re doin' here?”
“Finding you so I can kick your ass.” He took Chris’s arm and pulled him
out of his seat. “Let’s go.”
Chris tried to wrench his arm free. “Get off me!” He slurred. “I ain’t goin'
no where with ya.”
Josiah ignored and tightened his hold. When they reached his truck, he physically
forced Chris into the seat and strapped his seatbelt on. He quickly got in
the drivers side and headed for home.
<><><><><>
The smell of coffee woke Chris from his alcohol-induced slumber. He opened
his eyes and winced as pain shot thought his head. “Fuck me.”
“No thanks.” A deep voice answered.
Chris carefully opened his eyes again. “Josiah.” He greeted.
“Christopher.” He threw the change of clothes he took from Chris’s truck
on the bed. “Get up, get a shower, and get dressed. We have some talking
to do.”
Chris was too hung over to hear the warning in Josiah’s voice. “Leave me
alone.” He rolled onto his stomach and pulled the pillow over his head.
Josiah’s patience was at its end. He swatted the covered behind and lifted
the pillow.
“Ow! Dammit Josiah…”
“You’ve got 20 minutes to get yourself together and get downstairs. And believe
me, you don’t want me to have to come get you.”
Chris waited until he heard the door close before getting out of bed. He
had a feeling the rest of the morning was not going to be pleasant.
<><><><><>
20 minutes later:
“Breakfast is ready.” Josiah said when Chris entered the kitchen.
“No thanks. I just want coffee.”
“I didn’t ask you what you wanted.” He set a plate of bacon and eggs on the
table. “Sit. Eat.”
Chris looked at Josiah. Now that he was a little more clearheaded, he could
see how angry he was…and an angry Josiah was not something he wanted to deal
with right now. He lowered himself onto a chair and began eating.
“When you’re finished, put your plate in the sink and meet me in the den.
We have a lot to discuss Christopher.”
Chris paled when he heard his full name. “Yes Sir.”
<><><><><>
Josiah looked up from his seat behind his desk when Chris entered the den.
“We’ve been here before. I believe you know what to do.”
Chris slowly walked over, stood in front of the desk, and clasped his hands
behind his back. It wasn’t often that Josiah got like this with him, but
when he did, he knew he had pushed the big guy too far.
Josiah stood and walked around the desk to stand at Chris side. “Now, I’d
like to know what happened last night Christopher.”
“Nothing happened.” He answered angrily.
“Excuse me?”
Chris sighed. “Nothing happened, Sir.”
“That’s not what Ezra told me.” He started pacing. “From what I’ve been told,
you chose to drown yourself in a bottle once again. Is that true?”
“Yes Sir.”
“I thought we discussed this before. I know yesterday was the anniversary
of Sarah and Adam’s death, but that is no excuse for what you’ve done. Is
it?”
“No Sir.”
“So, lets hear it.”
Chris groaned. He hated when Josiah did this. “I saw a boy and his mother
when I went out to lunch. They reminded me so of Adam and Sarah I couldn’t
get them out of my head. When I got back to the office,” He paused and took
a deep breath. This part would not go over well. “ When I got back to the
office, I took out the bottle I had hidden in there and took a few drinks.
I guess I had too many.”
“Christopher James Larabee! You know I don’t approve of that. In fact you
were warned about what would happen if I found out, didn’t I?”
“Yes Sir.”
Josiah took a calming breath and leaned against the desk. “We’ll deal with
that in a moment. Continue.”
“When Travis called me to his office, I popped a mint in my mouth and prayed
he wouldn’t notice I was drunk. Then he told me what Vin did…and I just lost
it. I told Travis I would deal with it and stormed out of the office to find
Vin.”
“Which you did. What happened when you got home?”
“I told Vin to go upstairs. Ezra stopped me from following. We argued and
I punched him.” Chris dropped his head. “I didn’t mean to, honest. It just
happened. Next things I know I’m at that seedy bar downing shots like they
were going out of style.”
“Head up!” Josiah commanded and waited for Chris to comply. “What should
you have done differently?”
“I should have come talk to you as soon as I saw that woman and her son.”
“And?”
“I shouldn’t have used alcohol to try and forget. I shouldn’t have tried
to punish Vin while drunk. And I shouldn’t’ have hit Ezra.”
“What else?”
Chris wracked his brain. “I don’t know Sir.”
“You shouldn’t have driven while intoxicated. Does the ring a bell?”
Chris grimaced knowing Josiah’s reaction to that was going to be exactly
the same as his when he caught Vin doing it. ”Unfortunately, yes it does
Sir.”
Josiah took the armless straight-backed chair from the corner and placed
it in the middle of the room. “Okay, let’s get this finished. I told Vin
and Ezra I’d bring you home this morning.” He took a seat. “Come here Christopher.”
Chris turned and blanched when he saw Josiah sitting in the chair. He had
expected to be bending over it. “Aw Josiah, not that…I hate it when
you…please…”
“Vin hates the belt and Ezra hates the paddle, yet you still use them. Why?
Because it’s what works best. What makes you think I’d be any different?”
“But it’s embarrassing.”
“Good, then maybe you wont forget the lesson. Now, come here.” Chris sighed
and went to Josiah’s side. He reached down to undo his pants but his hands
were swatted away. “Ah ah ah…you know how this goes.”
Chris felt the blush rise in the cheeks when Josiah undid his pants and pulled
them to his knees. “Over.” Chris helped Josiah get him into position. He
tensed when felt his hands grab the waistband of his boxers, which quickly
joined his pants.
“Do you understand why you’re being punished?”
“Yes Sir.”
“Will there be a repeat of this performance?”
“No Sir.”
“Good.” The first spank landed, causing Chris to jump. The second and third
brought tears to his eyes. Josiah soon settled onto a rhythm, his hand turning
Chris’s backside red from hip to thigh. When he was through, he helped
Chris up and pulled him into a big hug. They stayed like that until Chris
stopped crying.
“I’m sorry Josiah.”
“I know you are, son. But it’s not me you need to apologize to, is it?”
“No Sir.”
Josiah held him for a bit longer before setting him on his feet. “C’mon.
We’ve got to get you home or there’s no telling what Vin and Ezra will do.”
<><><><><>
Vin and Ezra ran outside when they saw Josiah’s truck pull into the yard.
Neither of them missed Chris wince when he got out of the vehicle.
Ezra raised an eyebrow. “Josiah?”
“Brother Chris and I had a little discussion during his stay. There will
not be a repeat of this behavior, will there Christopher?”
Chris colored. He knew his boys were aware Josiah took him to task occasionally,
but he’d never had to do it in front of them. “No Sir.”
Vin and Ezra looked at each other and smiled. It wasn’t often they got to
see Chris taken down a peg.
Chris stepped closer to them. “I’m sorry. I was wrong and I promise I’ll
never, ever hit one of you with my fists again. If I do, I’ll let Josiah
punish me in front of you.”
Ezra could see the anguish on Chris face. He knew when Chris regretting hitting
him the second it happened. “Apology accepted. However, if were to ever occur
again, I will leave you.”
“Same here…except I’ll wait until after yer punished ‘fore leavin’.” Vin
added. “That’s just something I don’t wanna miss.”
“Why you little…” His words were cut off by Ezra’s lips. He leaned into the
embrace glad he was forgiven. Chris opened his eyes when Ezra was pulled
away abruptly.
“It’s my turn.” Vin quickly took up where Ezra left off.
Chris broke off the kiss and took both of his boys hands, afraid if he let
go they’d disappear. “I still need to get my truck.”
“Not a problem. Ezra and I will go.” Josiah said.
“What if I wanted to go?” Vin asked petulantly.
“I believe you and Chris still have some things to discuss.” He nodded at
Ezra. “We’ll be back in a bit.”
Vin waited until they were out of sight before looking at Chris. “With all
that’s happened I’s hopin' ya forgot.”
Chris slipped into Top mode. “Not gonna happen. Do you want to take care
of this now, or wait?”
“I don’t wanna take care if it at all.” He said under his breath. He knew
Chris was waiting for an answer and sighed. “Best get it over with now.”
“All right. Let’s go inside.”

When Ezra returned, he let himself into the house and headed up to their
room, knowing that was where Vin and Chris were. He couldn’t help but laugh
at the sight that greeted him. There, lying side by side were his lovers
sounds asleep…each with a cool washrag on their butts. He smiled and ran
to get his camera.
