In a cage of electronica that entraps like prolific cinematography rather than atom driven symphonies, the first two threads of the strong-woven Professional Murder Music web are the melody-minded "Slow" and "Fall Again." Then vocalist/guitarist Roman Marisak and co-conspirator Jeff Schartoff's programming heave exasperated breaths, offering equilibrium to those who bow to Trent Reznor nightly. "These Days" throbs with more human recklessness, and the contribution of The Cure's Robert Smith speaks droves of Professional Murder Music's formula for cold-fusion that creates such a warm sensation. Other guests at the table are theSTART's Aimee Echo (of Schartoff's old band, Human Waste Project) and Limp Bizkit's DJ Lethal. At long last, a band that diverts from the since pre-packaged, completely copycated methods of programming found in Ministry and Rob Zombie. While bristling venom awaits on "Your World," Lethal earns his tag on "Painkiller Introduction," his needle vehemently skipping on a record intended to curdle your blood. These professionals stay with an arsenal of neon huges, plunging into various pathologies of the musical psyche.--Cathy A. Campagna.
