…We Are One…

‘I’ll never let go Jack!’
Vikki stared past the TV. She was dreaming, in her dream Jack wasn’t Leo and Rose wasn’t Kate. Her Jack, was another blond heartthrob, although in her opinion, her Jack was a damn sight better looking.
THWACK!
Vikki jumped out of her skin, she sat there in shock ‘til she realised what had happened. She slowly turned her head to look at Bryan, who was trying to look innocent whilst watching the movie.
‘BRY-AN’ Vikki spoke slowly and annoyedly.
‘Hmm?’ Bryan looked at her.
‘If I wanted to eat cushion feathers, I’d have asked.’
‘Ok.’ Bryan turned round and continued watching the movie. Vikki sat back, she wasn’t gonna let him get away with this, she looked down at her McDonalds, she smiled slyly. She picked up her straw and its wrapper, she pulled off little pieces and began making spitballs. She loaded her straw, aimed and FIRE!
Bryan felt something wet on the back of his neck. He shot round and saw Vikki grinning holding the straw, ‘What was tha…………….EWWWWWWWWWW!!!!!!!’ It dawned on him what had hit him. ‘You dirty little sod!’
Vikki continued to sit there grinning. Bryan grabbed the nearest cushion and stood up, he walked slowly to Vikki who was trying to climb behind Kian, to protect herself. ‘You iz gonna pay for that girlie!’ Vikki pushed Kian forward, ‘Save me!’ She giggled, gripping his sweater.
‘Leave this to the men!’ Kian boomed in his deepest, manliest voice, flexing his muscles.
‘You better sit down then, BOY!’ Bryan pushed Kian back onto couch.
‘OWWWWWWWWWWW!!!!!’ Kian landed on Vikki, ‘Jesus, Kian, you’re heavy! It must be all those muscles you have,’ Vikki flirted outrageously, fluttering her eyelashes and smiling sweetly. Kian looked at her and grinned.
’You beat him up for me?’ Vikki said in the most defenceless voice she could muster.
‘Errrrrrrrrrrrrrm, nah.’ Kian sat down crossed his arms and plonked himself down next to Vikki smiled and carried on watching the film.
‘Git.’ Vikki whispered, she looked up, Bryan was still stood in front of her, ‘If I say sorry, will you still hit me with the cushion?’ Vikki put on her baby voice again.
‘Yes.’ Bryan said, straight-faced, ‘Wonderful.’ Vikki replied. Vikki scanned the room, she needed help on this one, Bryan was a lot taller than her and, she guessed, heavier. She looked at Shane, he was, as usual, engrossed in the TV, there was no point in even speaking to him, he wouldn’t hear her. Mark, oh, Mark was too engrossed in Sinéad, as always. Kian had already refused and Bryan was the one attacking her. There was someone missing, Vikki scanned the room for him, he was sat in the corner fiddling with his phone, he looked so lonely, like his wasn’t part of the group. Well, time to make him part of it, Vikki thought to herself.
She dived over the couch, she landed at a painful angle on her ankle, ‘OW! CHRIST ALIVE!’ She shouted, Nicky jumped and looked at her, he’d been daydreaming, and Vikki screaming woke him up. ‘You alright?’ Bryan asked quickly, beginning to feel guilty.
‘I’m fine.’ Vikki answered quickly.
‘Good.’ Bryan grinned, advancing towards Vikki, cushion in hand.
‘Actually, on seconds thoughts. Maybe I aint so good! OW!! Ow! Ow! Ow?’ Vikki played it over the top, ‘This ain’t working is it?’
‘Nope!’ Bryan smiled, jumping over the Couch. He landed perfectly.
‘Nicky, help!’ Vikki said, quickly, laughing at the same time.
‘I dunno………’ Nicky was apprehensive, he’d been in a fight with Bryan before. Bryan won.
‘For God’s sake, help me!’ Vikki screamed in her best horror movie, she dropped to her knees and crawled over to Nicky, grabbed his hands, over acting ‘PLEASE! I don’t want my gravestone saying, ‘Death by cushion!’ please!’ She dropped her head onto Nicky’s lap and began violently sobbing. Nicky mouthed, ‘weird girl!’ to Bryan, Bryan just grinned. Vikki lifted her head, ‘You helping me or what?’ Vikki asked impatiently.
‘Ok, ok, ok, ok,’ Nicky stood up, ‘Bryan, put the cushion down,’ ‘No’ ‘Sorry, Vikki, tried my best’
‘Fine then’ Vikki mocked one of her famous bad moods and went to sit on the chair, Bryan moved like a blur to behind the chair, he was going to move it back an inch so that Vikki would still land ON the chair but would get shocked. Unfortunately, Bryan’s judgement wasn’t that great and Vikki missed the chair. Her back hit the floor with a thud, which was followed by crack, as her head came into contact with the pine floor.
Bryan stood still, shocked. Nicky dived down next to Vikki, ‘Vikki? Vikki, can you hear me?’ He got no response. She was unconscious. Bryan started panicking, ‘Oh Christ, what’ve I done? Oh no, oh no, oh no.’ His breathing became quick and erratic.
‘BRYAN! SHUT UP!’ Nicky shouted. ‘You always have to take things TOO far! You aint content with a pillow fight, YOU have to knock her unconscious!’
‘I’m sorry, I didn’t mean it, she wasn’t meant to, I wasn’t meant to…….’
‘Bryan, it’s ok, it was an accident, it’s ok’ Mark tried to calm Bryan down.
‘No, Mark it’s not ok!’ Kian spoke quietly but angrily. He got up and walked to where Vikki was lying and took her hand in his, ‘This is all your fault Bryan’ He hissed.
‘No it’s not,’ A voice croaked, everyone whipped their heads round. ‘And for God’s sake stop shouting, I’ve got an ever so slight headache.’ Vikki tried to joke, groaning at the sound of her voice. Nicky looked worriedly at Vikki, she still had her eyes closed. ‘How are you feeling?’ Kian asked, Vikki opened her eyes and saw Nicky’s and Kian’s face above her, the sun was shining through the window and was glistening on their hair.
‘Like I’ve died and gone to heaven.’ Vikki whispered, closing her eyes again. ‘What’ Nicky was bemused.
‘Eh?’ Kian getting an end of a stick, not sure whether or not it was the wrong one or not.
‘Nothing!’ Vikki realised what she said. ‘I had this nice dream, you know,’ Vikki lied.
‘Oh ok.’ Kian didn’t believe her. The look in her eyes was not that of someone who had had a dream.
Vikki pushed herself up, her whole body ached.
‘Where are you going?’ Nicky asked, playing nurse.
‘Painkillers.’ Vikki half laughed, she walked towards the door. As she got to it she turned around, ‘Don’t think you’ve heard the last of this McFadden! And that aint a threat, it’s a promise! You better grow eyes in the back of your head, coz you’re gonna need them!’ Vikki walked out of the room giggling. She’ll get him back. Somehow.
