‘Mandie, where are we?’ Laura asked.
‘Don’t worry, we know where we’re going.’ Mandie replied, understanding Laura’s worry, being lost in a strange city is scary the first time, let alone the second.
‘Vikki? Are you gonna talk sometime today?’ Mandie asked.
‘Sorry.’ Vikki mumbled, ‘I do try.’
Mandie smiled, she’d never met someone so diverse as Vikki, when you first meet her she won’t say a word, but once she got to know you it was hard getting her to shut up!
‘And you, Nix!’ Danny shouted from ahead.
Nicky looked up and blushed and quickly dropped his head. He wasn’t in the mood for talking, he wasn’t in the mood for anything. He should have gone home, but of course they talked him into going out with them, to ‘pull’. This frustrated him, he had a date tonight, just cause they didn’t like her doesn’t mean he couldn’t go, he glanced up at Amanda, smiled nervously, dropped his head, put his hands in his jeans pockets and walked.
‘Here we are!’ Danny pointed to a run down café, sat inside were four guys and three girls.
‘Oh my god, Vikki look!’ Laura was speechless for the first time that day.
‘What?’ Vikki was peeved, more new people, more names to learn and more of Mandie trying to get her to talk.
‘Hi guy’s.’ Danny went into the café, Amanda was tired and not really bothered what was going on as long as she got a drink, Laura was acting weird, she kept pulling at Vikki’s sleeve and Nicky had cheered up, he went and sat next to two dark haired guys, and immediately burst out laughing.
Laura was still pulling at Vikki’s sleeve but Vikki was concentrating on the girl sat next to the tall blond guy.
‘OH MY GOD! RABZ!’
The girl looked up with a ‘Do I know you’ look on her face, suddenly her eyes grew wider
‘VIKKI!’ Both were too shocked to speak, they hadn’t seen each other since high school. They both looked at Mandie, she had a big grin on her face, she’d known all along. All three sat down and chatted about how Mandie had set this up. Meanwhile, Amanda was getting on surprisingly well with the other guys and Laura was still tugging at Vikki’s sleeve.
‘What?’ Vikki asked Laura viciously, she took her away from the table.
‘What’s up with you?’
‘It’s Shane.’ Laura gasped with a huge grin on her face.
‘Shane?’ Vikki was getting impatient, who the hell was she talking about!
‘From Westlife, the one I like, the quiet one’s Nicky.’
‘From Westlife? Oh my god he’s the cute one!’
‘Really cute….’ Laura was eternally happy.
‘No not him, you muppet! Nicky, that’s where I knew him from, your wall!’
‘ Erm.. I don’t mean to interrupt you two ladies but we’re about to order..’ One of the dark haired guys, Shane, had come over.
‘Christ!’ Vikki shouted as she caught Laura, on her way to the floor.
‘It’s the heat,’ Vikki lied for her cousin.
Shane was confused, heat? If she was hot, why didn’t she just take her coat off?
Vikki returned to the table and Mandie introduced everyone to everyone, well she tried anyway.
‘Everyone this is Vikki, Amanda and the little one on Vikki is Laura. Everyone else this is Shane, Bryan and Rabz, as you know, Nicky and Siobhan, Kian and Mark and Sinead.’
Everyone said their hellos and got down to ordering.
