Mark credits Ronan Keating as an important factor in keeping his feet on the ground, always ready to offer advice when the whirlwind of non-stop show biz parties and meeting other pop stars like the Spice Girls and Robbie Williams proves hard to take in. Mark loves being in this position, though, and relishes each new experience. Appearing on 'Top of the Pops' in the UK was a childhood dream come true for the 1m78 tall Gemini. When the band visited Australia they found themselves in the town where the soap opera 'Home and Away' is set but, although Mark's a big fan of the show, time constraints meant he couldn't visit the set. He wasn't too upset though as just being in Australia was unbelievable for him. Another ambition was to meet Mariah Carey and as we all know this is no longer just a dream. You can just imagine how excited Mark was to meet her when they recently recorded together!
Whether Mariah is his ideal woman as well as his musical heroine is not known. Mark is currently single but as he says he's 'open to offers'. His favourite actress is Phoebe from the TV show 'Friends' and his dream woman would have to be thoughtful and funny. The best way for Mark to relax is simply by chilling out with his pals or catching up with new music on long flights. Mark dislikes narrow-minded people and his most annoying habit is singing all the time - even when he's nowhere near a stage!
Mark's the oldest of three boys - his brothers Barry and Colin live in Sligo with his parents, Oliver and Marie. He misses his family terribly when he's on tour and is just thankful he can keep in touch using his mobile telephone. At school his favourite subjects were English, Physical Education and Home Economics where he no doubt learnt to cook his favourite food, chicken. Mark loves racket sports and plays tennis, badminton and squash. Musically he is also pretty talented playing guitar, piano and the tin whistle.
