Sarah Clarke was born and grew up in St. Louis. She studied both fine arts and Italian at Indiana University, and then went on to Bologna in Italy to spend her senior year. It was there that she began acting. After that, she returned to her home in St. Louis and began working as an architectural photographer, where she was given acting classes for free, in exchange for her taking photos of a cultural art centre.
She continued to study acting at Circle In The Square when she moved to live in New York, and also spent time working with Robert Wilson, Axis Theatre Company and The Willow Cabin Theatre Company. She starred in the short film "Pas De Deux", and won a CiNY Award for Outstanding Performance. She also took part in the 24 Hour Plays production "k, x, z and y", she played the role of Madeline.
She also made a guest appearance on "Ed", and the third season "Sex And The City" episode "Politically Erect". She then went on to star as Nina Myers in the award winning FOX show "24", and gained many fans as the hard working and selfless ex-lover of Kiefer Sutherland's Jack Bauer, and shocked viewers near the end of the season as she was revealed to be Yelena, the second mole within CTU.
She is also set to appear in the film "Emmett's Mark", which also stars Gabriel Byrne and Tim Roth. In addition to this, she will feature in two independant films which will be in production over summer 2002.
Sarah is engaged to marry Xander Berkeley, who played George Mason on "24", on September the 7th, 2002. They first met while filming the pilot for the show, and the announcement of their engagement came as a bit of a shock to their co-workers. "I'm marrying George," joked Sarah.
