Eyes

Maltese are at risk for a number of eye conditions which can be genetic. Eyelash abnormalities including distichiasis and ectopic cilia which can require surgical intervention are seen in Maltese. Symptomatic dogs should not be bred. CERF exam or certification by an ACVO diplomat on a yearly basis is highly recommended. Eye clinics are often offered at dog shows. Check your premiums.
