NICHELLE
Rejected
Copyright 2002
I tried to talk to you, but you covered your ears.
I tried to listen to you, but you closed your mouth.
When my eyes met yours, you turned away.
When I needed your help, you took back your hand.
I was rejected.

Now you try to talk and listen to me.
Now there's a constant glare against my face
and your hand beside me.

But where am I?

I am gone, and out of reach because I was shut out of your life.
I cover my ears, my mouth is sealed,
my eyes are shut, and my hand clenched tight.
I live up to the deal of being rejected.
