EMU ROTC
There are plenty of reasons why every fall dozens of students enter our esteemed ROTC program.  Some have an interest in becoming officers in our nation's or another nation's military, others have had a preoccupation with militaria since childhood, and some feel that their lives lack in structure and discipline.  EMU ROTC fulfills these and other fantasies.
A strong bond will be built between you and your friends as you are put through hell every day by authoritarian upper-classmen.  The rigors of a military lifestyle will force you to rethink your set of values, your identity, and even your sense of worth.
You'll develop the ability to make sound decisions under overwhelming stress as your upper-classmen lead you through a series of frightening scenarios.
No matter where life after ROTC takes you, one thing is for sure, you will go there with the instilled characteristics of a real commando.
As an Everyman Cadet you'll be trained in the full array of special skills to be carried out in your future life as a civilian or soldier!  Below are just a few examples...
When was the last time you wanted to get from rooftop to rooftop using the interconnected ropes/telephone wires/clothes lines? As an Everyman Cadet this will be your primary means of getting from one place to another, totally unnoticed!
As a soldier you practically never know when you'll end up shipwrecked, so the ability to turn your pants into a floatation device is truly priceless.  On the first week you'll be practicing this and other proceedures in our pool, by week 2 you'll be ready to give it a try in the choppy waters of the Wave Pool at Wet n' Wild of Dallas!
Picture this:  You are blindfolded, gagged, and dropped off in unfamiliar woodlands over 3 hours from any hint of civilization!  What do you do as the panic sets in?  As a cadet you won't need to picture it, you'll live it!  ROTC Survivalism Course will test your ability to find a way out of almost certain death.
In our POW Field Course you and your classmates will draw straws to see which of you is the "POW".  Whoever that is will be tracked down, taken to the ground, silenced, bound, and thrown into the back of an all-terrain vehicle.  Back at base he will be subjected to sleep deprivation as well as a cocktail of hallucinogens until he gives up whatever info he has on "his friends".
What would you say to the opportunity to jump out of a high-flying transport deep inside enemy territory?  Yes, sir!  A million things can go wrong during an airdrop, believe us, that is why our Paratroop Unit has a modest saying: Practice Makes Perfect!  For example, pack your chute wrong?  Enjoy the free-fall!  Or, forget to bend your knees on the landing?  Hope you weren't too fond of having knee caps!
Grenades!  There is nothing more exciting than chunking one of these things and bracing yourself for the blast!  But, did you know there is a right and a wrong way to throw them?  Throw it too hard and you might blow out your elbow- for good.  Don't throw it hard enough and watch out, shrapnel time!
Everyman ROTC "Commando Kids" Summercamp!
Every summer you will help host a summercamp for the "Commando Kids".  Teach boys and girls of ages 8-13 the skills of unconvential warfare.  Just think of it, a summer full of marching, drilling, repelling, shooting, and learning the ins and outs of guerilla tactics.  They will show up in May undisciplined and lazy and by August will have been transformed into hardened little warriors!  Look out, here come the Commando Kids! And would you believe they have mastered the driving of real tanks and other tracked-vehicles?  This will be one summer they will never forget!
A word from our Cadet Leader
"Hello, I am Major General Francis Stern and I am in charge of ROTC operations here at EMU.  Anyone could go to Westpoint or some other academy, but only the elite survive their time in our ranks.  My objective is to produce sharp, orderly individuals who will take into their careers, military or otherwise, a keen knack for all types of weaponry as well as the skills of covert movement.  If you join our corps and cannot cut it you will be systematically worn down until you quit out of desperation, but if you develop a body and will of iron, then you will become a fierce instrument of death, Everyman style!"
