I wrote this song based on the beginning tune of Sheryl Crowe's "Steve McQueen." It's crap in a song, man.
So I picked up the paper and began to peruse the personal ads
I needed something about looking for love to laugh at
But then I looked a little closer and began to learn
Of what people across time had also to yearn
And so the poet told me
Sometimes in my dreaming mind
I�ve made a poem for only me to read
But it�s full of descriptions
For the person that I need
�Eyes so unfathomable
They�re like the depths of the sea
Just one look and I agree
If only you could quote Keats what a poetic world it would be�
So I put an ad in the paper

He�d be dark and he�d be brooding
He�d be the perfect muse
With a darkling sheen in his eye
And so the astronomer told me
Sometimes in my far-reaching head
I�ve made a constellation for only me to align
But it�s a nightly image
For the person that I�m out to find
�Eyes so exceedingly bright
They�re like the glowing full moon
Just one look and I deem
If only you were interested in the stars what a brighter world it would seem�
So I put an ad in the paper

He�d be smart and he�d be radiant
He�d be the perfect star
With the twinkle of shooting stars in his eye
And so the princess told me
Sometimes in my whimsical self
I�ve made a thought for only me to comprehend
But it�s only the illusion
For the person who shall stay with me from beginning to end
�Eyes so deep-felt
They�re like looking inside his heart
Just one look and I am resigned
That forever will my heart be with thine�
So I put an ad in the paper

He�d be kind and he�d be handsome
He�d be the perfect prince
With all his love shining in his eye
And then ordinary girl told me
Sometimes in my sleeping mind
I�ve made a dream that only I can dream every single night
Maybe an Orlando Bloom or another celebrity lookalike
I don�t know who he is but send him to me soon
I�m willing to wait for him across all the ages
Is he here in the personal pages?
So I put an ad in the paper

Now I can truly see why�
