| Funny you should ask. "Little Shop of Horrors" is a satirical comedy, relating to science fiction, presented in the form of a musical. Seymour Krelborn is your average Joe, living in downtown Skid Row and working for Mushnik's Florists. He was orphaned at an early age, but was taken in by Mr. Mushnik and forced to earn his room and board from the moment Mushnik took him under his wing. Audrey, the other worker at the florist, is the object of Seymour's affection, but she has an abusive, sadistic boyfriend who stands in the way of any romance between Seymour and herself. The florist shop's business is not doing very well, but suddenly Seymour unveils a "strange and interesting" plant he has been tinkering with and it begins to attract customers. However, the plant food Seymour gives his Audrey II (the plant) is beyond eerie and definitely not suggested in any botanists' handbook. Will Audrey finally take notice of Seymour? What happens with the plant? What about this Mushnik guy? Find out on May 9th and 10th, 2003, as "Little Shop of Horrors" is introduced at the Washington Little Theatre to the general public by the Washington Drama Club! Admission is $6; reservations are NOT encouraged because they aren't being taken. |
