| Advocacy is a word that when used has several meanings. For Everyone Together Gratiot County it means giving a voice to Children, Parents, Families and Caregivers that all people deserve to be respected in the community and schools. Very often the word all means all that are the same. Our goal is to advocate that all means all people. Community: To achieve this goal in the community we provide opportunites for families with all levels of ability to interact through family based community activities. We also have members actively involved on many boards and organizations in our community, and we offer trainings and workshops that educate on the importance of acceptance and inclusion. Schools: We feel that all children should be educated in appropriate educational settings. In order to do this we provide a free parent advocate program that educates parents how to become their child's advocate. This is done through face to face meetings and trainings offered in workshop formats. Our focus is to teach parents how to become effective team members in the educational and IEP process and how to partner with the schools to develop an appropriate program for the child. For questions reguarding advocacy please call Marcy Lancaster (989)620-0470 or email us at [email protected] |
