I, like many other people, used to be an Animorphs fanatic. I actaully joined the craze a long way after the first book was released, but I had read many.
I was introduced to Animorphs by Richard, who's brother introduced them to him, after getting one for a birthday present. It was then that whenever the word 'K.A.', or 'Animorphs', or even the word 'book' were mentioned, I'd get excited.
Animorphs fans everywhere are worried about Everworld's takeover of their books. They are very sorry people, as Everworld is not even targeted at the same audience, neither even anywhere close to the theme.
Even the covers look totally different. They are more like art than David Mattingly's stuff for Animorphs. THey are made to look old and mythical, not new and technological.
Everworld, is aimed at teens. Animorphs, that is aimed at about 10 year olds to 15. I don't know where anyone got the idea of K.A. stopping Animorphs, to write a new series. If Everworld books didn't have "K.A. Applegate", and "By the same author as Animorphs", no one would even think of a similarity. Everworld can be read by those same age group, but it has a little swearing and themes not suitable. (Unless your parents couldn't care less like mine >:P)
Yes, it is true, the only reason I noticed Everworld is because it was by the great K.A. I've always enjoyed myth and magic, but I thought Everworld was much more realistic because of the characters not being one big happy family like Jake, Marco, Cassie, Rachel, Tobias, and Ax.
They have grudges. They dislike each other. But they stick together, purely for the reason of surviving.
So, Animorphs fans, put down your books, and don't be afraid to try Everworld. I 'grew out of' Animorphs, but I still take them off the shelf once in a while.
