Basil's vet and orthovet had given Basil complete clearance a little while ago but I was hesitant to set him free. He had had free run at the field in my apartment comples but the dog park??? Well, after realizing that I did this surgery so he could return to a more normal life, I decided it was time. I took him to the dog park early on both days to there weren't many dogs and he could get a little tired before the real crowd came in. We met up with about 10 boxers on Saturday and then went to our old dog park for the first time in five months on Sunday. That crowd was so happy to see us - it was so nice. Basil play and ran - I even had a few people comment on how fast he was - what a joy that was to hear. And to watch my boy run free! He was so happy, he was smiling. We had no serious incidents and for that I am grateful. He slept like he hasn't slept in months and so did I. He actually seemed to be walking better after the activity. He was a bit sore the following few days but by Thursday, was raring to go again. Maybe we spent a little too much time at the park so we'll scale that back and see what happens. |
