Well, here we go again...TPLO #2 on the right knee. I knew there was a good chance but I was sooo hoping we'd be the other 50%. It happened about a month ago. I saw Basil get "spun" at the dog park and just knew it. But, he walked away and kept playing. It wasn't until we got home that he started limping and holding the leg up. We went to the vet 2 weeks later. She rushed throught the visit diagnosed a tear and wanted to schedule the surgery. I said I need time to think about it. I wasn't sure I wanted to do surgery again and I certainly wasn't going to let them do it! I was referred to a wonderful surgeon who took plenty of time, answered all my questions in detail, did a thorough exam and ruled everything else out. He doesn't have as many surgeries under his belt as we normally look for but I know in my heart he is the right surgeon. I also figured out that Conservative Management is not for me. I don't have that kind of patience when there is a surgery that will get my dog back to being a dog much quicker. Also, I'm not convinced that it works in the long run for such an active dog. Just like the extra-capsular - not strong enough.

I will use the same positive healing and visualization techniques that I did last time and Basil will recover super-fast again. This time should be quicker too because we're not as worried about injuring the other knee since it's already repaired. So that's the story.

We live in a different place with stairs indoors and hardwood floors so I purchased baby gates and no-slip rugs and, of course, lots of treats to keep him busy.
