Elliott Sadler is Evernham Motorsports newest driver. After leaving Robert Yates racing at Indianapolis this year to come to EMS he has performed well. In 1997 Busch Series team owner Gary Bechtel hired the young Sadler to drive his car the full season in 1997. Sadler got his first NBS win at Nazareth speedway in Pennsylvana. He finished 5th in the 1997 NBS Standings. After a successful sophmore year sadler won 2 races. In 2000 he signed a contract with Wood-Brothers Racing and was going for rookie of the year in 2000. Elliott Sadler would get his first NWCS win (formely Winston Cup) in 2001 at Bristol Motor Speedway in Tennesee. After a mediocre 2002 season Sadler left The Wood Brothers operation to race for Robert Yates racing to drive their #38 M&M's entry. He finished 2003 off 22nd in points with 2 poles, 2 top5's, and 9 top 10's. For 2004 Sadler and RYR. Were looking to make it into the chase for the championship. This was the first year for the chase and they were determined to make it in. At Texas in April he beat Kasey Kahne out for the win in a very close finish. Johnny Sauter was on the inside a lap down coming out of turn 4 on the last lap. Sadler and Kahne were closing quickly and Elliott had to lift to avoid Sauter and that gave Kahne a Chance to get his first victory but Sadler would have none of it. When all 3 of them came to the dog-leg Sauter went as low as possible to let Sadler and Kahne to battle it out for the win. Sadler jammed the throttle and beat Kahne by a quarter of a car length. Sadler's season was his best to date in 2004. At California Speeday on Labor Day weekend Sadler and Kahne were once again battling for the win. Sadler was about 2 seconds in front of Kahne with 3 laps to go. All of the commentators were expecting Kahne to catch Sadler and win. Going in to the last lap Kahne was gaining on sadler but didnt have enough for Sadler. Sadler was now solidly in the top 10 He did go on to make the chase and finished 9th in the final points standings. 2005 was supposed to be Sadler's dream year but it all didnt work out. He had 1 DNF at Texas. Sadler never made it to victory lane in 2005. He finished out 2005 with 1 top 5, 12 top 10's and 4 poles. 2006 was an up & down year for Sadler. Having switched to Evernham Motorsports from Robert Yates Racing after Indy in the summer 2006 is a year Sadler would like to forget. Sadler finshed 22nd in points logging 1 top 5, and 7 top 10's. Sadler & his Dodge crew are ready for a successful campain in 2007.
